Dalton Sargeant took the lead from pole winner David Mayhew on the second lap of the Carneros 200 at Sonoma Raceway in California with a smooth pass in the number 52 Galt Chevrolet

For almost the entirety of the Carneros 200 at Sonoma Raceway, Dalton Sargeant, a regular in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East, looked like he’d steal another win from his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West counterparts. Sargeant took the lead from pole winner David Mayhew on the second lap of the 1.99 mile road course in Northern California with a smooth pass in the number 52 Galt Chevrolet on the hairpin turn 11.

With four laps remaining in the Carneros 200 at Sonoma Raceway the number 38 Baker Energy Team/Sonoma Harvest Dodge piloted by Dave Smith slid off course bringing out the yellow flag. This late restart proved to be unfortunate for Dalton Sargeant as fast qualifier David Mayhew used a strong restart to his advantage. Mayhew eventually passed Sargeant for the lead on the first lap of a green-white-checkered finish to capture his first victory of the season. It was Mayhew’s ninth victory in 92 career races in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West.

David Mayhew led just the first two and final two laps of the Carneros 200 with Sargeant, who won the season opener at Kern, leading all 64 laps in between. “Those last few laps were tense for sure,” Mayhew said. “We’ve been second a few times, third. We’ve been right there knocking on the door. It’s great to finally come away with the win.” After winning two of the first four NASCAR K&N Pro Series West races in 2014, David Mayhew entered Sonoma winless in any of 2015’s first five races.

K&N sponsored Jonathan Allard and the Tri-C Motorsports team worked all week to get a new car finished before Friday night at Silver Dollar Speedway

Dalton Sargeant crossed the finish line in second, followed by J.J. Haley, Ryan Partridge and William Byron rounding out the top five. Afterward Dalton Sargeant commented, “Overall I can’t be more than thankful. I led most of the race and unfortunately that caution came out at the end. Things got a bit racy and gave it all we had going into that last turn. I just wasn’t able to hold it off.” NASCAR Sprint Cup Series regulars Austin Dillon and Trevor Bayne used the Carneros 200 at Sonoma Raceway as a tune-up for Sunday’s Toyota/Save Mart 350. Austin Dillon and Trevor Bayne finished sixth and 10th, respectively.

Chris Eggleston, the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West points leader entering Sonoma, saw his lead dwindle after a 13th-place run. He heads into the July 11 race at Stateline Speedway with a 9-point lead over Noah Gragson followed closely by Garcin Raz in third.

2015 & 2016 Ford Mustang Fastback V6 or Convertible V6 3.7L Gains Power with K&N Air Intake

By replacing the stock factory air induction system, K&N performance air intake systems can reduce restriction and straighten airflow

By replacing the stock factory air induction system, K&N performance air intake systems can reduce restriction and straighten airflow to increase both horsepower and torque

Contrary to most auto makers’ engine line ups, due to an increase in horsepower, torque, and fuel economy, the Ford 2.3L EcoBoost four cylinder engine is an optional upgrade over the standard 300 horsepower 3.7-liter V6 engine. That’s not to say the base 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang Fastback V6 or 2015 Ford Mustang Convertible V6 is a slouch in the performance department. The 3.7-liter V6 was the first engine to introduce twin independent variable camshaft timing (Ti-VCT) technology to the Ford Mustang. At 300 HP and 280 lb-ft of torque that comes on low in the RPM range, the 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang V6 can accelerate from 0-60 mph as fast, or faster, than the more expensive Ecoboost L4.

A K&N performance air intake system is designed to free up additional horsepower being lost to restrictive factory air inlet components. By replacing the stock enclosed air box, accordion hosing, and sound baffling installed at the factory, a K&N performance air intake system can reduce restriction, straighten airflow, and increase both horsepower and torque. K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang Fastback and Ford Mustang Convertible V6 air intake system 69-3536TTK replaces these restrictive factory parts with a mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube, finished in a flat black powder coat, coupled to a high-flow washable and reusable K&N air filter. Additionally, the 2015 adn 2016 Ford Mustang 3.7L V6 air intake system incorporates an application specific powder coated heat shield which helps block hot air from entering the intake system.

K&N guarantees that its performance air intake systems will do more than improve engine bay appeal and improve engine sound with its horsepower guarantee. K&N dyno tests each air intake system it designs to give owners an estimate of what kind of horsepower increase at the wheels they can expect when installing a K&N air intake system. For example, when tested on an otherwise stock 2015 Ford Mustang V6 3.7L, K&N air intake 69-3536TTK produced an estimated 12.42 additional horsepower and 12.09 lb-ft more torque at the rear wheels. A K&N air intake system is an easy bolt on horsepower upgrade that can be installed using basic hand tools and generally only takes about 90-minutes to complete.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East Points Leader William Byron Scores 3rd Win of Season

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points leader William Byron made a trip to Langley Speedway a couple of weeks ago

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points leader William Byron made a trip to Langley Speedway a couple of weeks ago to get familiar with the 3.75-mile track and that practice race paid off

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East rookie Rico Abreu earned the pole position for the 2015 Visit Hampton 175 at Langley Speedway in Hampton, Virginia with his fast qualifying time of 15.96 seconds at 89.323 miles per hour. However, second place qualifier William Byron quickly took the lead from Abreu on the first lap setting the stage for his eventual win on the tight .375-mile semi-banked oval track.

William Byron made a trip to Langley Speedway a couple of weeks before the Visit Hampton 175 to race a Late Model car and become familiar with the track. That trip paid off for the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East points leader as he led 174 laps with just one change in leaders on lap 33 when Dalton Sargeant passed him. William Byron said it was a “Really good run for us. With 25 laps to go I told myself I’d give it all I can here.”

Gray Gaulding rebounded from having to make a pit stop on the opening pace laps to replace his radio and started in the last row to finish fourth. NASCAR Drive for Diversity driver Jay Beasley finished fifth for his second top-five finish in as many races for Rev Racing.

The race was slowed just three times by caution and was completed in 58:43 for a new race record average speed of 70.815 mph. After the race Kyle Benjamin was asked whether or not he thought a late race caution could have changed the outcome. Benjamin said, “Wish we would have had a chance to have a late caution to see what we had.”

William Byron expanded his points lead to 23 points over Kyle Benjamin (253-230) with Austin Hill in third with 226 points. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East returned to action at Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday, July 4 for the NAPA 150.

2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 Coyote Makes More Power & Sounds Better with K&N Intake

K&N Aircharger air intake system for the 2015-2016 Ford Mustang 2.3L Ecoboost

K&N Aircharger air intake system for the 2015-2016 Ford Mustang 2.3L Ecoboost eliminates restrictive factory parts for more HP and torque

The 2015 model year was huge for the Ford Motor Company. Ford introduced all-new versions of two of their most popular models, the Ford F150 and the Ford Mustang. The 2015 sixth generation Mustang has introduced a host of changes to the legendary Ford Pony Car. 2015 Ford Mustang models feature a fully independent rear suspension, and for the first time in nearly 30 years the Mustang can be equipped with a turbocharged inline 4-cylinder engine. But don’t worry, the 2015 Ford Mustang GT retains a V8 as its standard engine. The 5.0 badge has been synonymous with performance since the 302 cubic-inch engine was introduced in 1968. The 5.0L V8 found in 2015 Mustangs, and first introduced in 2011, shares the same displacement as the push-rod engine used through 1995 but takes advantage of technology derived from the 4.6L modular engine to far exceed power output of almost any 5-liter Mustang produced.

All 2015 Ford Mustangs feature new independent rear suspension

The Ford Mustang has always had a solid live axle rear suspension, however all 2015 Ford Mustangs feature new independent rear suspension

That’s not to say that even the 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft torque 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0 can’t be improved upon with a performance upgrade from the biggest name in air filter technology, K&N®. Typically, the factory air intake tubing, stock air filter box, and disposable air filter is a significant point of restriction in modern fuel injected cars or trucks. Because of this fact, K&N has developed an Aircharger® air intake system, number 63-2590, for the 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0-liter to eliminate restrictive factory components by replacing them with a roto-molded HDPE air intake tube coupled to an open element K&N reusable air filter for superior airflow and superior performance. The K&N reusable air filter RC-2960 included with the 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L intake is protected by an application specific air filter heat shield to help keep inlet air temperatures (IAT) within factory tolerances.

Reducing air intake tract restriction, straightening airflow, and maximizing the 2015 and 2016 Mustang GT’s ability to inhale with a K&N Aircharger intake helps this car put even more power to the ground. In-house dynamometer (dyno) testing showed an estimated horsepower increase of 17.41 HP and 21.01 lb-ft of torque on an otherwise stock 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0. Torque is said to get you moving while horsepower keeps you moving. With that in mind, K&N Aircharger air intake 63-2590 will help 2015 and 2016 Mustang GT 5.0L owners accelerate quicker and go faster. More horsepower isn’t just for the race track, additional power can come in handy when accelerating onto a highway, or when passing a slow moving semi-truck. As an added benefit of installing a K&N air intake system, 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L owners will enjoy a more muscular engine sound befitting an American icon.

The K&N 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0-liter air intake system 63-2590 is an easy to install performance upgrade that can be completed in about 90 minutes or less using basic hand tools, and by following K&N’s simple step-by-step instructions. It maintains all necessary factory connections and does not require any additional modifications be made to the vehicle for increased performance. K&N backs its air filters and air intake systems with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty so owners can rest assured that their intake system can stand up to the most demanding drivers. Whether 2015 or 2016 Ford Mustang GT owners use their pony car as a fun daily driver, or a track car, the K&N 63-2590 Aircharger Air Intake system will provide increased performance with better engine sound for years to come.

The Volkswagen (VW) Golf, initially the Volkswagen Rabbit in North America, almost single handedly spawned the “Hot Hatch” movement. The idea was simple, take an economy car, outfit it with a performance engine and suspension package, then suddenly the car was both sporty and practical. The same tradition of performance and practicality applies to the 2015 Volkswagen Golf 1.8-liter turbo engine and its various trim levels, including the 2015 Golf GTI. The GTI is equipped with a 2.0L turbocharged engine capable of producing 40 more horsepower and nearly 60 lb-ft more torque than the standard 2015 VW Golf 1.8T.

With a K&N® air intake system 69-9506TTK for 2015-2017 Volkswagen Golf 1.8T or GTI 2.0T models, an engine is able to overcome restriction, better utilize available airflow, and produce more horsepower and torque. A K&N Typhoon air intake eliminates the restrictive factory intake tubes, and sound baffling by replacing them with a mandrel bent aluminum air intake tube coupled to a high-flow washable and reusable K&N air filter. The aluminum air intake tube is protected with a flat black powder coat to ensure it looks just as good as it performs. Additionally, the 2015-2017 VW Golf 1.8L and GTI 2.0T K&N air intake system incorporates an application specific powder coated heat shield which blocks hot air from rising off the exhaust manifold into the air filter and reuses the factory fresh air inlet to introduce cooler air to the K&N air filter.
