After the gates dropped for the first Lucas Oil/AMA Pro MX Series moto at Budds Creek Alex Martin nearly grabbed the holeshot on his K&N equipped Yamaha YZF250

Budds Creek MX, just outside of Washington, D.C. was host to Round 6 of the Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross Series. Budds Creek MX is one of the more popular tracks on the circuit with decades of Pro Motocross History and host of the 2007 Motocross of Nations. Torrential rainstorms plagued the D.C. area in the days leading up to Round 6 of the Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross Series which made for a muddy and challenging track. Qualifying practice was cut to just a single session and K&N supported CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin was 11th fastest (2:22.038) in the 250 class.

CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin moved past RJ Hampshire on lap 2 of the 1st Lucas Oil/AMA Pro MX moto at Budds Creek to secure 1st place in the 250 class

After the gates dropped for the first moto Alex Martin nearly grabbed the holeshot on his K&N equipped Yamaha YZF250 and rounded the first lap in second position. Martin moved past RJ Hampshire on lap 2 to secure first place, and began logging some of the most consistent laps of his career at the front of the pack. Martin built a strong lead and was unchallenged throughout the majority of the race before his brother Jeremy Martin passed him with three laps to go. Alex stayed close and was able to move back into the lead on the final lap when his younger brother stalled his bike in a turn. Alex went on to take the moto win which happened to be the very first of his Pro career. It was all smiles for Martin and the entire K&N supported CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha team as they celebrated their first victory together at the podium.

The rain continued and only made the Budds Creek MX track more difficult for 250 Moto #2. Alex Martin was 10th off the start and was able to pass up to 7th position. Martin swapped scores and tied with overall winner Marvin Musquin (7-1), but in a tie the top position is given to the rider with the best score in Moto #2. This made CycleTrader/Rock River Yamaha’s Alex Martin’s 1-7 moto finishes good enough for a 2nd overall at Round 6 of the Lucas Oil/AMA Pro Motocross Series at Budds Creek MX.

The 2014 and 2015 Cadillac CTS VSport is equipped with a 420 horsepower twin turbo 3.6L V6 engine, the most powerful Cadillac engine of its kind. Combine that with the electronically controlled track mode feature, and Pirelli run-flat summer tires and this Cadillac can outperform the BMW 535i and its twin turbo inline 6.

K&N sponsored Brad Baker put together his finest performance of the 2015 AMA Pro Flat Track season when he rode his K&N filters equipped No. 6 Factory Harley-Davidson to a clean sweep in Lima, Ohio by qualifying fastest, winning his heat race, the Dash for Cash and taking first place in the GNC1 main event at the Lima Half-Mile. This was Brad Baker’s first Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines victory of 2015 and his first elite class win at the Lima, Ohio half-mile track.

The Lima, Ohio half-mile AMA Pro Flat Track event was originally scheduled to run on a Saturday, but inclement weather forced it to be pushed back a day. That Sunday's weather proved ideal, especially for Brad Baker. Henry Wiles jumped out to an early advantage in the GNC1 main event and led the first three laps before Baker got in front. On a restart due to an incident involving Jake Shoemaker, Brad Baker jumped to the lead and was never challenged for the remainder of the event. Second place went to Sammy Halbert, and Briar Bauman came home in third.

"It was an amazing race," said Baker. "From the get go, I put the hammer down. Henry (Wiles) was doing really well and keeping me on my toes the entire race. I was pretty nervous at the beginning. I switched to the awesome factory suspension and since then, everything has been working really well. Big shout out to Terry Vance and Kris Schoonover, who couldn't be here because of the weather yesterday. Great job to everybody with AMA Pro Racing, Dean Gallup and the whole Lima crew. It's been an excellent time here."

Brad Baker a 22-year-old Washington state native won the inaugural AMA Pro GNC2 Championship in 2009 and brought his career full-circle by winning the Grand National Championship in 2013. Unfortunately Baker suffered an offseason injury heading into the 2014 season and he got off to a slow start in his GNC1 title-defense campaign. After his AMA Pro Flat Track win in Lima, Ohio Brad Baker sits fourth in the Harley-Davidson GNC1 presented by Vance & Hines point standings.

More Power for 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra, Coupe, & GT 1.8L / 2.0L with K&N Air Intake

The K&N performance air intake system for 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra uses a silver aluminum air intake

The K&N performance air intake system for 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra uses a silver aluminum air intake tube coupled to a K&N high-flow air filter, and protected by a heat shield

The 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra is available in various trims, body configurations, and even has an optional 2.0L performance oriented engine. The Korean built Hyundai Elantra is positioned to take on long time class leaders such as the Toyota Corolla, Honda Civic, and Ford Focus by offering more bang for the buck. Hyundai Elantra 2.0-liter Sport or GT powered models don’t come close to the power output of the Honda Civic Si, or Ford Focus ST, however a bolt on performance upgrade, like a K&N air intake, can help bridge that gap. 2014 to 2016 Hyundai Elantra, Elantra Sport, Elantra Coupe, or Elantra GT Hatchback owners who opted for the EPA estimated 38 highway MPG 1.8L inline four, or the 173 horsepower 2.0L engine found in Sport and GT trims can increase horsepower and torque for better acceleration, as well as a sportier engine sound, with a K&N performance air intake system.

K&N performance air intake systems replace restrictive factory induction parts, such as the enclosed air box, accordion hosing, and sound baffling devices, with a freer flowing design for superior airflow and superior performance. The K&N performance air intake system for 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra, Elantra Sport, Elantra Coupe, or Elantra GT Hatchback models with a 1.8L or 2.0L engine utilizes a mandrel-bent aluminum air intake tube, finished in silver powder coating, coupled to a K&N reusable high-flow air filter, and protected by an application specific air filter heat shield to improve upon the factory design. Additionally, the 2014-2017 Hyundai Elantra air intake system incorporates the factory fresh air inlet near the front of the car to give this K&N short ram intake a similar advantage normally offered by a complete CAI system.

K&N Typhoon air intake system, 69-5315TS, is able to free up horsepower by reducing restriction, straightening, and maximizing available airflow. As part of K&N’s horsepower guarantee, K&N will not build an air intake system unless it is proven to increase performance. When dyno tested on a base 2015 Hyundai Elantra 1.8L, K&N air intake 69-5315TS was shown to provide an estimated 5.16 more horsepower and 3.91 lb-ft of torque to the front wheels of an otherwise stock Elantra sedan. Similar results can be expected when installed on the larger and more powerful 2.0-liter engine found in Elantra Sport and Elantra GT models. K&N air intake systems are designed as an easy bolt-on performance upgrade and can typically be installed with basic tools in about 90 minutes or less.

K&N backs it’s washable and reusable high-flow air filters and performance air intake systems with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. Rico Abreu Transitioned From Sprint Cars to NASCAR K&N Pro Series & Won in 7th Race

Rico Abreu captured his second Coors Light Pole Award in a row at Columbus Motor Speedway

Rico Abreu captured his second Coors Light Pole Award in a row at Columbus Motor Speedway, with his first being at the previous NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Langley Speedway

In his NASCAR K&N Pro Series East debut, Grant Quinlan battled for, and swapped, the lead eight times with Rico Abreu throughout the Napa 150-lap event at Columbus Motor Speedway

Rico Abreu made a name for himself wheeling an open-wheel car on dirt, even winning the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals sprint car event in 2014. Abreu made his first stock car start in February behind the wheel of a NASCAR K&N car and it hasn’t taken long for him to get acclimated to stock car racing on asphalt. In only his seventh start, the 23-year-old from St. Helena, California, earned his first NASCAR win in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Columbus Motor Speedway in Columbus, Ohio.

Abreu is following the path that his friend and fellow Californian Kyle Larson – now a full-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series competitor – took in transitioning from dirt to asphalt. Larson’s first NASCAR victory came in his sixth career K&N Pro Series East start in 2012 en route to the championship that season. With Abreu’s win in the NAPA 150, Abreu continues his breakout year that saw him sign with HScott Motorsports with Justin Marks and win his first Coors Light Pole Award in the previous K&N Pro Series East event at Langley Speedway.

Rico Abreu captured his second Coors Light Pole Award in a row at Columbus Motor Speedway, but it was a decisive pass for the lead on Lap 115 that ultimately delivered his first victory. Rico Abreu barely beat Grant Quinlan to the finish line. In his K&N Pro Series East debut, Quinlan battled for – and swapped – the lead eight times with Abreu throughout the 150-lap event. The final margin of victory for Abreu over Quinlan was 0.103 seconds. Kaz Grala crossed the line in third with Jay Beasley fourth and Ronnie Bassett Jr. fifth.

After the race Abreu said, “It was cool. I sat on the pole and led for a few laps. Then I ran second a few laps. I just focused on hitting my marks every lap. I’m used to running 30 laps and now I’m running 150 laps. So it’s a little more technical to hit your marks every lap. But that’s what it takes to win these kinds of races.”

William Byron, who finished 14th in the Napa 150 at Columbus Motor Speedway, retained the championship lead by 20 points over Austin Hill with seven races complete. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to action with the Granite State 70 on July 17 at the more than 1-mile long New Hampshire Motor Speedway oval.
