The Nissan Altima is a fun to drive mid-size car available as a sedan or coupe. The Nissan Altima has been manufactured in the U.S.A since 1992 and in 2011 the Altima became the second bestselling car in the United States. 2013 brought changes to the Altima and rang in a new fifth generation Nissan Altima. Continuing over from the fourth generation Altima is the lively 2.5-liter four-cylinder QR25DE DOHC engine coupled to a constant velocity transmission (CVT).

Now, owners of 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Nissan Altima models who opted for the fuel efficient 2.5-liter four-cylinder QR25DE engine can also opt for increased performance and more horsepower with the K&N 69-7064TS Typhoon performance air intake system. The 69-7064TS performance air intake system is precision-engineered to be a simple-to-install performance add-on. A free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube helps to minimize restriction, allowing your engine to breathe easier. A durable silver powder coated finish is applied to the tube, providing a unique appearance under the hood that will look great for years to come.

K&N equips the 69-7064TS performance air intake system with the oversized RX-4730XD Xstream top air filter. Xstream top air filters feature a patented filter top design which provides increased surface area, over a comparable sized standard top K&N air filter, to help increase airflow while also providing outstanding engine protection. K&N used the RX-4730XD filter to improve power delivery and drivability. RX-4730XD is made with K&N’s famous high-flow filter media so it’s washable and reusable and can even go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions.

The 69-7064TS air intake system features a custom designed heat shield which is specific to the 2013-2016 Nissan Altima 2.5 Liter. The heat shield shrouds the air filter under the hood, helping to protect air entering the intake from radiant heat coming off the engine. Plus the heat shield used in 69-7064TS incorporates a fresh air scoop adapter to retain the use of the stock fresh air duct. Retaining the stock cold air duct keeps incoming air temperatures within factory specifications.

All of the design features of the 69-7064TS performance air intake system work together to deliver increased performance. On the dyno, 69-7064TS produced an estimated additional 7.75 horsepower and 9.51 pound-feet of torque over the stock system. Additional horsepower and torque can come in handy when merging onto a highway, or when driving up a steep grade.

The 69-7064TS performance air intake system is an excellent upgrade for your Nissan Altima 2.5, 2.5S, 2.5 SV, or 2.5 SL. With simple to follow instructions and no need to make any other modifications to the vehicle, you’ll be on the road in approximately 90 minutes with more horsepower under your right foot. If all that weren’t enough, K&N backs the 69-7064TS with the industry-leading K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty. Whether it’s taking your sporty Nissan Altima coupe to the next level of performance or adding some get up and go to the family Nissan Altima sedan, K&N has what you’re looking for with the 69-7064TS Typhoon air intake system.

Performance air intake 69-7064TS is designed to fit and function properly on the Nissan Altima models listed below:

The National Auto Sport Association, or NASA for short, is the sanctioning body behind the American Iron Racing Series. American Iron Racing was created for U.S. made muscle cars such as the Ford Mustang, Chevrolet Camaro, and the Pontiac Firebird. It is composed of three classes, the Camaro Mustang Challenge (CMC), American Iron (AI), and American Iron Extreme (AIX). The classes vary from the CMC, which is composed of nearly showroom stock cars, all the way to AIX, which is almost an open class.

K&N partnered with quality manufacturers like Ford Racing, Optima Batteries, Eibach Springs and Bassani Exhaust to make this dream car a reality

The American Iron (AI), class is situated between the other two, with rules in place for minimum weights and maximum horsepower to weight ratios. K&N Performance Filters specifically built the 2014 Ford Racing Mustang RTR to compete in the AI class. American Iron Racing rules specify that eligible cars must use an OEM frame and chassis or “Body in White” type vehicle shell.

K&N designed a custom ram air induction system for the Mustang using a K&N performance air filter and had it produced it with a form of 3D printing

A 2010 Ford Mustang Body In White (BIW) shell forms the basis of the K&N Motorsports Ford Racing Mustang RTR. At the heart of this American Made pony car sits a stock Ford 5.0L TI-VCT Coyote engine. Power output is tuned to comply with the American Iron Racing horsepower-to-weight ratio rules. According to Dave Martis, R&D Manager at K&N, “The car makes 387 horsepower and 391ft-lb of torque to the rear wheels.”

It takes more than an engine and shell to build a racecar. The K&N Mustang RTR uses suspension components from venerable manufacturers such as Cortex Racing, JRi Shocks, and Eibach springs. Stopping power is provided by Baer Brake Systems six piston calipers, 14-inch floating race rotors, and Hawk Brakes racing brake pads. Tires come from Toyo Tire and are the only tires permitted in the American Iron class. The build sheet for the K&N Motorsports Mustang is quite extensive and a full list can be downloaded here.

Of course no K&N built race car would be complete without the world-class filtration products that K&N is famous for. A one-off custom made ram air induction forces cold air through high-flow air filter, number 33-2058, and into the intake system. 33-2058 is an OE replacement style air filter originally intended for Dodge Ram pickups equipped with the 8.0-liter V10 engine traditionally used in the Dodge Viper. Making sure the Coyote motor has clean oil is K&N Wrench-Off Oil Filter, number HP-1018. The higher flow rates, thicker canister walls, and outstanding filtration offered by a K&N Wrench-Off Oil Filter are crucial for race vehicles. In addition to the customary K&N filtration products, this Mustang also uses two K&N Billet Aluminum inline fuel filters. K&N part number 81-1003 is used in the trunk to filter gasoline as it leaves the Fuel Safe fuel cell. Under the hood is billet fuel filter 81-1001 to make sure the fuel is clean before it enters the fuel injection system.

The K&N Motorsports Mustang has performed well since the build was completed earlier this year. Most recently, the car was piloted by Ryan Walton to a second and third place finish at Spring Mountain Motorsports Park in Pahrump, Nevada. Further testing and practice was held this past Friday at Willow Springs International Raceway. Walton and the K&N crew will use a NASA event, not part of the American Iron Racing Series, to further hone skills and perfect the car before heading up to the legendary Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca near Monterey, California. Just two rounds remain in the American Iron Racing Series 2014 season and the K&N Motorsports crew has high expectations.

Upcoming American Iron Races include:
July 26-27: Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca
Oct 4-5: Buttonwillow

Kyle Larson Turns Right On Victory Lane In Sonoma NASCAR K&N Pro Series West Race

Kyle Larson proves he can turn the number 42 Clorox Chevrolet right during the Carneros 200 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Sonoma Raceway

It didn’t take long for Kyle Larson to find his comfort zone again on the NASCAR K&N Pro Series.

Kyle Larson had the fast qualifying time in the Clorox Chevrolet and led every lap of the Carneros 200 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Sonoma Raceway

Kyle Larson had the fast qualifying time in the Clorox Chevrolet and led every lap of the Carneros 200 NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Sonoma Raceway

He won the K&N Pro Series West race at Sonoma Raceway, leading every lap and starting from the pole. He was making his first start in more than a year on the K&N Pro Series. He was a regular on the K&N Pro Series East before making the move to the Nationwide and Sprint Cup Series.

“It’s always fun racing the K&N cars,” Larson said. “I miss running them. I got to run the East Series a couple years ago and had a blast with that. I was really excited about coming here and running the West Series at home.”

It was his first win in the K&N Pro Series West. He won two races and the championship in the K&N Pro Series East in 2012. Winning at Sonoma Raceway wasn’t as easy as it looked though, Larson said after the race.

Coming in second was the leader of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West standings Greg Pursley, followed by number two in points, Dylan Lupton in his Sunrise Ford of Fontana race car

“It seemed like they would always stay with me on a restart until I got to turn 7,” Larson said. “I was able to gap them a little bit there. I just struggled with choosing the right lines in the beginning of the race.”

Larson, from Elk Grove, Calif., is a rookie on the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series. After winning the Carneros 200 at Sonoma Raceway, the driver for Chip Ganassi Racing qualified third for the Sprint Cup Series race.

“I thought I would be OK when I came here,” Larson said. “I didn’t think I would be that good. I still don’t really think I’m that good. We just qualified good. Looking back, I was a little bit frustrated after the qualifying run. I gave up a lot of time I thought out on the track, could’ve had a shot at the pole.”

Larson wasn’t the only Sprint Cup Series driver in the K&N Pro Series West field. Ricky Stenhouse Jr., who drives for Roush Fenway Racing in the Sprint Cup Series, was fourth in the K&N Pro Series West race.

Justin Allgaier, also a Sprint Cup Series regular, was 14th in the K&N Pro Series West race.

Greg Pursley, who leads the K&N Pro Series West standings, was second in the race at Sonoma. He increased his lead to 21 points over Dylan Lupton, was who third in the race.

The race ended with a green-white-checkered flag finish. There were five caution periods for 16 laps in the race.

“We had a top five car,” Lupton said. “I just knew I had to get a little bit of a gap on him to hold them off. Luckily I was able to do that on the green-white-checker. That first lap, I was able to get about a 20-car gap on Stenhouse behind me. That just opened me up to cruise to a third-place finish. Larson and Pursley were very fast all day long. It was hard to keep up with them.

Pursley has six top-five finishes in six K&N Pro Series races this year. He won the K&N Pro Series West Race at Kern County Raceway Park in California on May 24.

“Happy to come home second today,” Pursley said. “I think that’s our best finish here. Got another top five and that’s a good day for the points.”

Brandon McReynolds rounded out the top five with a fifth-place finish.

The next race on the K&N Pro Series West is the Stateline Speedway in Idaho on July 12. 2

Geico Motorcycle EnduroCross races begin with riders lining up behind a gate, just as they do in Supercross

EnduroCross is a form of motorcycle racing that blends some of the most exciting elements of motorcycle competition from Supercross, Trials, and Enduro racing. Endurocross racing is typically held indoors in an arena where fans can see all the thrills and spills. An EnduroCross course incorporates multiple elements found in off-road riding such as jumps, rocks, boulders, logs, sand, mud, a water hole and anything else the course designer wants to throw at competitors. It has been described as the “toughest racing on two wheels”. EnduroCross is an exciting spectator sport and was added to the X Games in 2011.
