In 2012 Chevrolet released the Sonic 1.8 liter compact car, with the Sonic being a replacement and redesign of the Chevy Aveo. The heat shield also has an attachment spot for the included fresh air inlet scoop. The fresh air scoop attaches to the heat shield and offers a way for the cooler outside air to reach the air filter without having to pass through the under-hood hot air.
To help improve air flow even more, the 69-5308TS air intake comes with a velocity stack style air filter adapter and an oversized RU-4600 high performance air filter. The velocity stack style adapter is designed to smoothly transition the air flow coming through the air filter and into the intake tube. The air filter fits onto the velocity stack style adapter and is secured with the provided hose clamp. Since the RU-4600 is an oversized air filter, not only will it do an excellent filtration job and protect your engine from dust, but you can go longer than the stock replacement air filter before cleaning is needed. Most drivers can go up to 100,000 miles before cleaning, depending on driving conditions.
