2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 Gets Bolt-On Performance with K&N Dual Air Intake System

K&N intake 69-7083TS for the Infiniti Q50

K&N intake 69-7083TS replaces the stock Infiniti Q50 components with twin powder coated aluminum intake tubes and dual K&N High-Flow Air Filters for superior airflow and superior performance

The Infiniti Q50 sport sedan was introduced as a replacement for the Infiniti G-series sedan models. The Q50 replaced the G37 as part of a new restructured naming convention for the Infiniti brand. All passenger car names begin with a Q now, while SUV and Crossover model names begin with QX. The 2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 comes well equipped, including a powerful and fuel-efficient V6 engine, cutting-edge technology, a luxurious interior and sharp exterior styling. That’s not to say the factory design cannot be improved upon. Owners of the 2014 and 2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7 liter can bolt on increased performance and save on maintenance costs with a K&N® dual air intake system featuring world-famous K&N washable & reusable air filters.

The 2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 replaced the 2013 Infiniti G37 sedan as part of a new restructured naming convention for the Infiniti brand

K&N engineers knew that with their expertise these luxury sport sedans from Infiniti are capable of more. Much consideration was put into the design of part number 69-7083TS for the 2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 sedans with a 3.7L V6 engine. The stock intake tract uses a dual intake set up fed by dual air boxes and air filters. K&N intake 69-7083TS replaces stock components with twin powder coated mandrel-bent aluminum intake tubes and dual K&N High-Flow Air Filters for superior airflow and superior performance. 69-7083TS incorporates two unique heat shields which serve to isolate the dual air filters from the warm air under the hood. This intake system provides improved performance and attractive silver powder coated aluminum Intake tubes to match the color of the engine bay.

K&N’s 2014-2015 Infiniti Q50 dual air intake system uses two conical shaped K&N high-flow clamp on air filters, part number RU-4960XD

The result of this hard work and enthusiasm for performance is estimated at over 6 additional horsepower and 7 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. K&N’s Research and Development Department tested a 2014 Infiniti Q50 with a 3.7L V6 engine on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed horsepower increases throughout the entire RPM range which improves drivability at almost any speed. This air intake system uses two conical shaped high-flow air filters. K&N clamp on air filter, part number RU-4960XD, captures harmful particles, flows a large amount of air, and provides long service intervals. This K&N air intake system and air filters will perform for up to 100,000 miles before service is required, depending on driving conditions.

In addition, K&N offers a RX-4990DK Drycharger® filter wrap that can be used in conjunction with part number 69-7083TS. Drycharger filter wraps are durable pre-filters that are designed to filter large dirt particles and thus extend the time before the main air filter needs to be cleaned. These wraps can repel water while adding very little restriction to the airflow of the filter. The wraps specifically designed for this intake’s air filters are available in black, blue, red, and yellow.

K&N Infiniti Q50 air intake, number 69-7083TS, is a complete intake system which should take about 90 minutes to install with common hand tools. It uses stock mounting points, requires no drilling, and is covered by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. K&N air intake 69-7083TS is designed to provide a guaranteed increase in horsepower for the following Infiniti models:

2015 Infiniti Q50 3.7L V6 F/I
2014 Infiniti Q50 3.7L V6 F/I

Dillon Bassett Had to Fend Off Late NASCAR K&N Series East Challenge at Motordrome

William Byron was the fast qualifier in the UPMC Health Plan 150 at Motordrome Speedway and earned the 21 means 21 pole award presented by Coors Light

Sunoco rookie of the year contender Dillon Bassett got his first career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East victory in the UPMC Health Plan 150, but it wasn't without some drama. Bassett made his 10th career NASCAR K&N Pro Series start and his previous best finish was a sixth in the season opener at Florida's New Smyrna Speedway. The 17-year-old from Winston-Salem, North Carolina became the 100th different winner in series history. To put the number 44 Bassett Gutters Ford in Victory Lane, Dillon had to sit through two lengthy late-race red flags, and then fend off a fierce challenge from Austin Hill in the closing laps.

Dillon Bassett took the lead in the UPMC Health Plan 150 from NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship points leader William Byron, who led a race-high 92 laps, on Lap 94. Asphalt issues on the front stretch necessitated a pair of red flags and subsequent caution periods starting on Lap 101. When the race finally went back to green on Lap 120, Austin Hill charged from third to first and it looked like Bassett's first win would have to wait. However, Dillon was able to maintain his momentum on the outside and wrestle the lead back on Lap 125 before he drove away to a 3.357-second victory.

Race winner Dillon Basset said, "Those last 20 laps were absolutely crazy. On the restart we spun the tires a bit. It left enough room for the 22 (Austin Hill) to get up under us. We just kept digging, never gave up, and got the lead back on the outside."

Fellow Sunoco Rookie of the Year candidate Rico Abreu mounted a late charge to finish second, while Hill settled for third. Afterward Abreu commented, "Saved our tires as much as we could the whole race. Got going there at the end. Just wish we didn’t run so many caution laps at the end when they were trying to fix that hole because it really hurt us."

Scott Heckert, fresh off his win at Watkins Glen, drove the number 34 Project Lifesaver Chevrolet across the line in fourth, followed by J.J. Haley in fifth. William Byron finished 8 and as a result his championship lead shrunk to 12 points over Scott Heckert. Austin Hill sits 28 points back in third.

A disappointed Austin Hill said, "When we went back to green the 44 (Dillon Bassett) slid up the track. I knew that was my chance but he was able to get off the corners better than I was and was able to clear back by me. At the end of the race we started to get a four-wheel slide so I had to really stop the car to keep the car up under me."

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East returns to the track with a road-course race: the Biscuitville 125 at Virginia International Raceway on Saturday, August 29th, 2015.
