Adams' 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Race Car doing a burnout.
Just how much do racers want to win the March Meet held each year at the Auto Club Famoso Raceway (just north of Bakersfield, California)? "I've never been so excited to win a single race like this in my life," say Jesse Adams the 28-year old Yuba City, California driver. Racing his K&N Filters sponsored classic 1969 Chevrolet Camaro, Adams took home the exclusive title of March Meet Champion in the Hot Rod category.

"52 times this race has been contested at this historic racing facility and I can now proudly say that Jesse Adams won the March Meet. This is something I can tell my son about. That's how much it means to me."
"Winning the March Meet was awesome," continues Adams. "It was my first time attending the historic event, and it couldn't have been better. From the day I dropped my entry in the mail, attending the March Meet was never about the money. Traditionally these events do not provide the huge payouts that you find at other events, but the atmosphere, attendance, and history of the event make it the premier nostalgic event in the world annually."
Adams' new design was finished just before SEMA.
Adams' plan from the get-go was to have his guys, Tim Charlet and John Rogers from CRX Promotions, to generate buzz about him and the K&N Camaro. After that the pressure was all on Adams to perform.
"The car was perfect. My driving that weekend was textbook. I think my K&N teammate Dan Fletcher would have been impressed," reflects Adams. "I had many friends watching the event online, and my FaceBook was going crazy with friends, family, and fans checking in. I think overall, that is what made the whole experience great."
"Not only did I win the March Meet with the baddest racecar, supported by one of the best companies in motorsports, but I did it with so many people watching and supporting from hundreds, if not thousands of miles away. I also had a few great friends helping me out at the track. I can't explain how much fun it was."
Infinite Graphics, located in Sacramento, California, created the vinyl wrap on Adams' car; Adams used photos from Dan Fletcher's and Warren Johnson's racecars as an example. "The design was finished just before SEMA, and I believe it is a one of a kind," adds Adams.
Adams says he's been around K&N guys for years, long before he was ever even driving a racecar. "I was at the track with my dad and guys like Steve Williams, Bob Harris, Greg Boutte, and so many others were there."
"Last year I was doing very well in the Sacramento Raceway NHRA E.T. Bracket Series. I ended up winning the Super Pro track championship in my Camaro (pre-K&N colors). The best part was that I won that championship as the slowest car in the category, off the bottom bulb, and without the use of typical Super Pro electronics/driver aides."
Adams was running Comp Eliminator for the first time in Seattle, Washington, when he approached Steve Williams about wanting to become a part of the K&N team. "We talked racing for a bit and I rolled out of there with a promise of further discussion. And, a few weeks later we struck a deal."
"I must say my timing was right and I feel honored to be a part of K&N now," remarks Adams. "On one hand it puts more pressure on me to perform at the level of other K&N teammates, but on the other, my car is tough looking and has the look of a winner before it is even on the track."
Adams says he hopes to successfully defend his 2009 Sacramento Raceway Super Pro title, and he would like to dial it up one notch on his Pro E.T. second place finish from last year.
"I'll be ready for the E.T. Finals and a shot to race for the World Championship this year too," says Adams. "I also hope to attend many big buck bracket races, including the 50k race in Seattle, the Medford Megabucks event in Medford, Oregon, Thanksgiving in Las Vegas, and everything I can attend in between. I would really like to put the K&N Camaro back into legal Stock Eliminator trim and attend some National and Divisional events as well," concludes a highly motivated Adams.
Cammish scored a dominate 17 Scholarship Class wins out of 23 race starts
Daniel Cammish, 20 years old, lives in Leeds, West Yorkshire; he started racing Karts in 2004, and immediately found success. For three straight years Cammish won increasingly more challenging British Kart Championships.
Cammish's goal is to become Dunlop MSA Formula Ford British Champion
Last year Cammish was hailed as one of the United Kingdom's most talented rising stars of British motorsports. In his rookie year driving in the Dunlop MSA Formula Ford Championship, Cammish flat-out dominated; scoring a staggering 17 Scholarship Class wins out of 23 race starts. It was one of the best rookie seasons in the Championships history and a new record for scholarship wins.
"The Scholarship class is for Drivers that are new to Formula Ford and are still classed as 'rookies' in general. They must also be driving a year old car to comply with the rules. The class is designed to give less experienced drivers something to race for," explains Cammish.

"However, I pretty much re-wrote the rule book on the class when the season began in April. I qualified second overall, only a tenth shy of pole position. I was a long way ahead of a Scholarship rival and it continued from there."
Cammish says he didn't concentrate too much on the class, he focused more on where he was finishing overall against the top drivers. Using the races as a measuring stick with which to gage his prodigious skill-set increases.
Beginning with round one Cammish had 13 consecutive top-six finishes overall. This would be a very impressive run for say a second year driver, let alone for a driver in his inaugural year.
As a result of his stellar on track performances, Cammish has become a "British Racing Drivers' Club (BRDC) Rising Star for 2010" - this is a huge honor. "Its great to be told your doing a good job from a third party," says Cammish.
"The BRDC are such a prestigious club and to have them choose me for the scheme separates me from the competition and gives me and immediate confidence boost and psychological advantage. I look forward to working more closely with the club once the season starts, and fingers crossed, I will meet some of the BRDC's most prestigious members along the way."
The ultimate goal for Cammish is to someday race at the very highest level of motorsports.
"The dream is of course Formula 1. But this is just a dream. There is a lot of competitive racing to be done, where talented drivers can make a living, and that is my realistic goal. Whether its Japan, America, or Australia, I believe I can make it as a professional racecar driver."
Cammish's relationship with K&N came about as a result of his yearly search for sponsorship. "My father enquired about the possible sponsorship of me for the 2010 season, and things went from there. I'm sure I can be a good Ambassador for K&N and will do my best to promote the brand whenever possible."
Cammish goes on to say that he would like to take the opportunity to thank K&N for all their support."
The plan for this season says Cammish is to become Dunlop MSA Formula Ford British Champion.
"If I achieve this, I would hope for a shot at the prestigious BRDC Autosport Young Driver of the Year Award," adds Cammish. "
"This would put me up against some of the finest junior drivers in the country, in a direct shootout to be the best. The prize includes £50,000 and a test of a McLaren F1 car. It would be a dream to win this award, and something I am very capable of."
Cory Kruseman has won a total of 148 sprint car main events and is ranked third on the all time win list for all west coast sprint cars.
Cory Kruseman, owner and operator of Kruseman's Sprint Car and Midget Driving School has been racing for 33 years. "I started racing motorcycles at the age of 6, then moved to go-karts, midgets and sprint cars. I was voted the number one sprint car driver in the world twice, won the sprint car non-wing world championship in 2001, and conquered the Chili Bowl, the biggest midget race of the season, twice," says Kruseman. He has also won a total of 148 sprint car main events and is ranked third on the all time win list for all west coast sprint cars.
Kruseman's Sprint Car and Midget Driving School is located in Ventura, California, has been in operation for 11 years.
In addition, Kruseman has raced in 3 NASCAR Craftsman truck races and competed in an IRL at Texas Motor Speedway in 2002. This long list of accomplishments certainly qualifies Kruseman as an expert racing teacher. He continues to race with his team, Kruseman Motorsports, while operating his successful driving school with his wife Carri.
Located in Ventura, California, the school instructs between 400 and 500 students a year and has been in operation for 11 years. "We have students who have never even seen a sprint car to students that race these cars every week," says Kruseman. The school has also hosted a long list of celebrities, NASCAR drivers, Indy car, drag racing and road course stars. "We also do an Arrive and Race program through our school which allows a student to come through our advanced course, and then rent a car for race night! We supply a top notch race car and a crew that takes care of everything. All the customer has to do is just show up and race," says Kruseman.
The school is always looking to improve and exceed the expectations of their students. "We are doing a lot of driver development in order to help take some of our drivers to the next level," says Kruseman. These select drivers are put in an extensive training program that includes participation in high profile races. "We also collaborate on product development with companies like K&N as a result of logging so many days of track time," says Kruseman. "K&N is the best! There are no better products on the market that protect your engine and make it faster in the process. It's a shame they don't build products for the rest of my car as well!"
Kruseman relates that he has been fortunate to be able to make a living from his love of racing for the last 21 years, so he and his wife want every racing enthusiast to have a chance to experience the thrill of the track. "You don't have to be a professional race car driver to attend our racing school. We want anyone who loves racing to come out and have some fun."
Pappel Racing Team has earned 9 Track Championships, 2 Division Six Titles and 1 National Championship.
Ron Pappel, patriarch of Pappel Family Racing, says he caught the racing bug while working on cars in high school. Pappel's two children, Jim, 22 and Rochelle, 15 have inherited their father's talents and love of drag racing. "My kids started driving very young. Rochelle started racing a junior dragster at 8 years old and has been the highlight of our team. Jim began driving at 13 years of age in junior dragsters and now drives a Pro Class Vega," says Pappel. In addition to their racing team, Ron and his wife Karen also own and operate a car dealership in their hometown of Eugene, Oregon.
In 2009 Rochelle Papplel finished top three at Champion Raceway and Ron Pappel finished 3rd overall in Super Pro.
Since 2002 the Pappel Racing Team has earned many championships, but this family is not about to rest on its laurels. "During our 2009 season, we finished very well in spite of missing some points races during the season. Rochelle finished top three at Champion Raceway and I finished 3rd overall in Super Pro," says Pappel. "We are looking forward to the 2010 season. Jim will run the Vega in Pro Class at events throughout the year and I will be running the 27 Super Pro/Super Gas Roadster."
Pappel notes that his daughter Rochelle is on track for one of her best years ever, not only on the drag strip, but in school as well. She will be racing her Junior Fast Class car and will also be participating in some high school driving events in a full size car.
"Rochelle has had much success in school sports. In addition to playing varsity volley ball, she is working towards breaking the school record in the intermediate hurdles and high hurdles as well as running the anchor for the 4X relay on the varsity track team," says Pappel. He says that the team's proudest moment came when Rochelle won the 2007 NHRA Western Conference Finals championship in the 12-year-old class at Bandemere Speedway in Denver, Colorado. She was the first female Division Six driver to win a national championship in any junior dragster class. "After winning that event, Rochelle returned to be honored as the Division Six Driver of the Year," says Pappel. Nearly 600 of the top Junior Dragster racers in the country go to Bandemere Speedway once a year to compete for one of eight prestigious Wally Trophys and a National Title.
Sponsored by K&N, Pappel Racing Team has earned 9 Track Championships, 2 Division Six Titles and 1 National Championship. "I believe that having great sponsors like K&N has given our family the opportunity to drive cars equipped with outstanding safety and performance products," says Pappel. "K&N has definitely contributed to the success of our family race team."
