The Pontiac GTO Gets Performance with Simple Add-Ons

The Pontiac GTO has been an admired muscle car since its debut in 1964. With its powerful V8 engines and bold body style no one could forget about the Pontiac GTO even after its 30-year hiatus beginning in 1974. In 2004 Pontiac came out with an all new GTO with a 5.7-liter 350 horsepower engine. In 2005 and 2006 the Pontiac GTO arrived with a 6.0-liter 400 horsepower V8 engine.

The 1968 to 1973 Pontiac GTO 455 and GTO 400 that do not use the ram air system benefit from K&N’s E-1650. The E-1650, like all K&N Air Filters, is backed by K&N’s million mile limited warranty.

The E-1590, replacement air filter, was designed for the 1970, 1971 and 1972 Pontiac GTO 455 models using the ram air system. The 1970 Pontiac GTO 400 using the ram air system also uses the E-1590.

1967 Pontiac GTO 400, 1965 and 1966 Pontiac GTO 389 owners use the E-3223, replacement filter. The E-1220 fits the 1969 Pontiac GTO 400 with the ram air system, 1970 Pontiac GTO 400 with the two-barrel carbureted engine and 1970 Pontiac GTO 350.

K&N’s E-1500 was designed for the 1972 Pontiac GTO 400 using the ram air system. The 1964 Pontiac GTO 389 and GTO 326 benefit from K&N’s E-1520 replacement filter. K&N Air Filters are all washable and reusable.

K&N PERFORMANCE AIR INTAKES

Two performance air intake systems are available, from K&N, for the2004 Pontiac GTO models with a 5.7-liter engine. K&N’s 69-7200TP straightens and smooths airflow with a polished aluminum short ram intake tube. Testing shows an estimated gain of 15.25 horsepower @ 5050 RPM with the 69-7200TP. The 57-3044 has a non-metallic intake tube that helps deliver an estimated 18.5 horsepower @ 5818 RPM.

Pontiac GTO Oil Filters

The 2005 Pontiac GTO with the 6.0-liter engine gains an estimated 10 horsepower @ 5100 RPM with K&N’s 69-7201TP, which has a polished aluminum intake tube. The 2005 Pontiac GTO can also choose the 57-3053, using a non-metallic intake tube, which gains an estimated 13.9 horsepower @ 5700 RPM.

Kia Picanto Gets Performance Addition with K&N Air Filter

The Kia Picanto was produced in South Korea as a five door hatchback sedan. The Picanto has been available in the European market since spring of 2004. The 1.0 and 1.1 liter 3 cylinder diesel engine has direct injection and a variable geometry turbocharger delivering up to 74 horsepower. The Kia Picanto is equipped with a CD and MP3 player, air conditioning, electric windows and mirrors and a remote central locking system.

2008 to 2011 2.0L Ford Focus U.S. models can benefit from the 33-2401 high performance air filter from K&N which allows better air flow and excellent engine protection.

K&N Air Intake Systems 69-3512TP and 69-3512TR were designed to fit the 2003 to 2007 Ford Focus with a 2.3 liter engine. Testing shows that the 69-3512TP, with a polished aluminum air intake tube, and 69-3512TR, with a red powder coated tube, gain 8.6 more horsepower @ 5773 RPM.

The 2003 to 2005 Ford Focus with the 2.3L engine may also use the 57-2559 which gains 11.85HP @ 5797 RPM with its non-metallic intake tube design. Owners of a 2005 Ford Focus with a 2.0 liter engine may use the 57-2559 performance intake as well. The 2003 and 2004 2.3L Ford Focus also has the choice of selecting the 63-1101 that comes with a black finish and a gain of approximately 11.85 HP @ 5797 RPM.

2012 to 2016 Ford Focus with a 2.0L size engine is compatible with the 69-3517TS that delivers 9.97 HP @ 5872 RPM. The 2013 to 2016 Ford Focus ST model 2.0 boosts performance with K&N intake 69-3518TS with estimated gains of 7.38 HP @ 5130 RPM. The high flow, high filtration filter, RU-4950, provides excellent protection for your Focus' motor.

Extend the service life of the RU-4950 filter with a K&N Drycharger wrap, available in various colors: RX-4990DK (Black), RX-4990DL (Blue), RX-4990DR (Red), or RX-4990DY (Yellow).

2007 through 2009 Ford Focus PZEV (Partially Zero-Emissions Vehicle) models with the 2.0 liter engines gain 5.24 @ horsepower @ 5400 RPM with K&N's 69-3513TTK intake system. The 2010 and 2011 Ford Focus PZEV 2.0L engines can receive 5.83 HP @ 5000 RPM with an easy to install 69-3516TTK bolt on intake kit.

K&N's performance air intake 57-2526-2 was designed for the 2000 to 2004 Ford Focus with the 2.0 liter DOHC (Duel Overhead Cam) engine. The 57-2526-2 gains 3.26 horsepower @ 5100 RPM. 2000 to 2003 Ford Focus models with a 2.0 liter DOHC (Duel Overhead Cam) engine may also use the 69-3510TP or 69-3510TB intake kit. The 69-3510TP has a polished aluminum intake tube and the 69-3510TB has a blue powder coated tube.

The 69-4000TS and 69-4000TB was designed to smooth and straighten airflow for the 1998 to 2004 European Ford Focus with a 128BHP (British Horsepower) 2.0 liter engine. The 69-4000TS has a silver powder coated metal intake tube and the 69-4000TB has a blue powder coated metal tube.

The 2002, 2003 and 2004 European Ford Focus ST170 and SVT models with the 2.0 liter engine use K&N's 69-3511TP, which has a polished aluminum intake tube, and 69-3511TR, which has a red powder coated tube. Both of these intakes gain 5.6HP @ 5000 RPM. The 2002 to 2004 Ford Focus SVT models with the 2.0L engine may also use the 57-2547, non-metallic intake, gaining an estimated 5.5 more horsepower @ 6500 RPM.

Avenger Superchargers Deliver Jeep Performance With K&N Air Filters

Every Jeep enthusiast has experienced the same dilemma, increase the size of the tires, and down goes the performance of the motor. Your gearing becomes longer, your engine struggles to turn all that rubber as you climb a hill or slog through mud. This is especially true if your Jeep didn't come with the top of the line V8 engine.

It's this exact reason that 6 years ago a Jeep repair shop owned by Jack Schuler, Avenger 4WD, began putting together high performance supercharger kits for their customers.

"My oldest daughter named it," Jack Schuler tells me, "Avenge means to make things right. That's what we do. We try to do what's right for the customer."

It's been working. Avenger Superchargers have become the go to guys to make rock crawlers, mud-boggers, off-roaders, or daily drivers really scream. The secret to their success, Jack Schuler says, is their customer service.

"We were just a regular four-wheel drive shop in Colorado. We only had three employees at the time." Jack relates, "We developed these kits for our customers running 35-inch tires, as an alternative to swapping in a V8."

They offer kits for three Jeep engines; the 2.4 liter four-cylinder, 2.5 liter four-cylinder, 4.0 liter six-cylinder and they are developing a supercharger for the 3.8 liter six-cylinder. Power increases range from 70 horsepower to 100 horsepower depending on engine size.

"K&N has been around the longest, they're the most recognizable brand out there." Jack says, "They're the most durable. In off-roading, you're cleaning the air filter far more often than on the pavement, and other brand's filters would just disintegrate."

Airflow is especially important in forced induction systems such as superchargers and turbo chargers.

"Your engine is basically an air pump, and it starts with the air filter. If your filer can't pump good CFM, your engine will suffer. The more air you can get in and out of the engine, the better your engine will perform."

And perform his engines do, their latest kit in production is estimated to get about 80 lbs of torque and nearly 80 horsepower out of the latest Jeep V6.

"We've had really good success with K&N Air Filters."
