The Toyota Tundra is one of the most popular choices among today's truck buyers. With an ergonomic interior and a powerful 5.7 liter engine, the truck is a pleasure to drive. Now, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Tundra owners can find 13.05 more horsepower at 5282 RPM hidden behind their restrictive factory air intake system by adding K&N's new high-flow intake system for the Tundra 5.7.
K&N's intake system part number 63-9031-1 replaces the factory air box and air path leading to the engine. In its place, a K&N oversize conical air filter is mounted inside a powdercoated heat shield that isolates the filter from the rest of the engine compartment. The filter supplies clean and unrestricted air flow to a rotationally molded intake tube which has been shaped to optimize air flow to the engine. The factory mass airflow sensor is relocated into the K&N intake tube using a special adaptor, and no reprogramming or computer modifications are necessary when using this system. The cold air intake system offers more performance while providing excellent filtration.
K&N 63-9031-1 Intake System Installed on 2008 Toyota Tundra
The oversize, chrome top RF-1041 air filter supplied with the intake offers the best balance of high air flow and filtration efficiency. Inside the filter, multiple layers of cotton are treated with 1.67oz of K&N air filter oil, which traps and holds dust particles while allowing air to pass by with little restriction. The filter's size allows it to go up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is necessary.
The 63-9031-1 attaches using all existing mounting points, and requires no cutting or drilling. It can be easily installed in 90 minutes or less with a socket set, wrenches, and screwdrivers. The system is also backed by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Mike Vaters drove his Black Stallion Monster Truck into Raleigh, North Carolina
for USHRA (United States Hot Rod Association) Thunder Nationals Series Monster Jam action at the RBC Center Arena.
Black Stallion Monster Truck
More than 7500 hardcore fans started off the evening with a pit party
before the show. They were able to meet the drivers and take pictures. “One of
the highlights as a driver is to meet so many fans,” said driver Michael Vaters.
“It’s also great to see how fans react when they are right next to a 66 inch
tire.”
Michael Vaters at the Thunder Nationals Series Monster Jam
Sky-wheelies or straight line racing over one set of cars is high flying
and faced paced. The Monster Jam track freestyle layout had vans side-by-side lined up on top of a 4
foot dirt hill. “One truck at a time would hit the back side of the racing
lines,” said Vaters. “As the first several trucks got the show underway the cars
got pounded into shape. We were all getting a feel for the track and how hard the
floor would bite. The dirt changes from place to place so the first time on the
throttle is always questionable.”
Vaters watched as the other trucks hit the track. Andy Slifko stood his truck
straight up and down most of the way across the cars for a 24 point score. The
Black Stallion launched forward and had the crowd on its feet. “We only earned a
23,” said Vaters. “Gary Porter and Grave Digger went last. Grave Digger broke a
transmission and put him out of competition until the freestyle portion.”
Fans from the audience pulled out numbers to determine the brackets for racing.
Eradicator defeated Iron Warrior, Monster Mutt defeated Backdraft and Black
Stallion defeated his teammate Iron Warrior in the semi-finals.
The finals were intense with a lot of cash on the line. “It would be the closest
race of the night,” said Vaters. “We took the win over Monster Mutt.”
The last event of the evening was Freestyle and it came down to a battle between
Black Stallion and Grave Digger. Vaters attacked the track with a vengeance and
flew across the length of the RBC Center floor, threw a donut and roared down
towards the stack of vans again. “I cross jumped from the racing lanes onto the
van stack,” he said. “The crowd went nuts and the judge appreciated the extra
effort and gave us a 27.”
Gary Porter replaced his transmission and Grave Digger used the entire floor for
a high flying run. The judges awarded Porter a 30 and the win.
The next night the track crew gave the crowd something extra by stacking the
cars in the racing lanes into a pyramid along with the van stack. “The obstacles
looked huge considering the floor is the size of an ice hockey rink,” said
Vaters. “We jumped and showed off our donuts.”
Vaters uses K&N Engineering products. “I use K&N’s injector and oil filters,” he
said. “We’re hard on motors at every race and K&N protects our engines. It can
handle the Monster Truck scene.”
Ultimately Grave Digger won the event. “Raleigh was fun for our team,” said
Vaters. “We’ll be in Springfield, Illinois for this weekend’s action.”

Standing in the winners circle at the Auto Club Dragway in Fontana,
California was a dream come true for Harris and his family. “I’ve raced my dad’s
memorial race every year and never won until now,” said Harris. “My dad was
liked by all the racers and supported the Southern California Pro Gas
Association for many years.”

Russ Harris was not a racer. “My dad only raced once, as a defending champion
for me at Arizona in 1992,” said Harris. ‘The rest of the time he supported me.
He would always encourage me to keep going to the track and keep learning
everything I could about racing. He drove all over the country with me and
backed me.”
Bob Harris is a four time NHRA national event winner. At Fontana he drove a 2002
Pontiac Grand Am called Maui Style, owned by his aunt and uncle, Les and
Jeanette Harris. Maui Style was built by Gary Hansen and the motor makes 1165
horsepower and 900 foot pounds of torque.
Maui Style’s horsepower and torque took Harris to his first Pro Gas victory
against Rick Gunther in the final. Harris went to the final round by defeating
Darryl Mitchell, Jr., Clarence Hoefer, Anthony Matasa and top qualifier Greg
Ventura.
Harris and Gunther recorded identical .024 reaction times in the final, but
Gunther was too quick at the stripe with 9.881 to Harris’ winning 9.951, 167.38.
“I cut my hand on the car and had to go to the hospital on race day,” said
Harris. “I know my dad was with me in spirit that day. I think I won with his
help and I also believe it’s because I’m really happy at this place in my life
now. I have a beautiful new wife and a wonderful family and now I’ve won my
dad’s memorial race. All is well.”

K&N Engineering has developed a performance air intake system for the Opel and
Vauxhall European market. The new air intake system (57A-6016)
takes advantage of the Apollo, a specially designed K&N air filter enclosure.
Air Intake for Vauxhall and Opel Zafira II and Astra H
The K&N performance air intake kit comes with custom mounting hardware to fit
these specific vehicles. The protective shell of the Apollo reduces heat
build up and feeds cool free flowing air into the engine to help improve
performance.
The
57A-6016 stays securely in place with included stabilizers with brackets.
K&N
engineers made sure this air intake design provided extra power but kept the cost affordable.
K&N's air intake design has lower restriction than the factory air box system
resulting in additional power while providing excellent filtration. The
