K&N Engineering will proudly display a highly modified 2006 Lexus IS 250MT in
its booth at SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association) in October. K&N
employees were awarded a stock car from Lexus for display in its booth at the
show in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Typhoon Air Intake for Lexus IS350 and IS250
K&N has also released a new 69-Series Typhoon Air Intake (69-8701TP)
for the 2006 to 2011 Lexus IS350 3.5L and the 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013 IS250 2.5L. K&N dynamometer tests show an estimated
11.2 horsepower gain @5800 RPM. "The power gain is exceptional for an engine
this size," said K&N Project Technician Nestor Cabrera. "With all our kits there
is a thorough development procedure which requires the use of multiple vehicles
to ensure a consistent horsepower and torque gain on every car, thus there is a
lot of testing that the kit goes through before it is finalized production."
K&N used multiple vehicles to ensure a consistent horsepower and torque gain on
every car and was able to locate the cars through the
K&N Filters website car
database.
The 69-Series Typhoon Air Intake (69-8701TP)
uses the factory mass air flow (MAF) Sensor installed in the tube and a high
flow air filter with a heat shield. "The high flow air filter helps provide
smooth non turbulent air flow into the intake tube by incorporating a radioused
mounting flange," said Cabrera. "The heat shield isolates the filter from the
engine compartment keeping the air around it cooler."
The design of the Lexus played a major role in the development of the polished
aluminum 69-Series Typhoon Air Intake (69-8701TP).
"Special care was taken to ensure that the intake system followed the vehicles
lines and that it did not obstruct or rub against other parts in the engine
compartment," said Cabrera. "We designed the intake system so that all the
factory accessory and engine covers could be reused."
The K&N Air Filter we used in this air intake was the RU-4990
, said Cabrera. "We considered air flow requirements,
location and space," he said. "The flange helps provide smooth air flow into the
intake tube."
Carl Renezeder is after another world champion title in Wisconsin at Crandon
International Off-Road Raceway. In four consecutive seasons, Renezeder has
walked away from the famous Labor Day event with a Champions Ring; three in the Pro-4 division
and one in the Pro-2 division. Renezeder was also the winner of the coveted BorgWarner Cup in
2004.
This coming holiday, the CORR Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Championship Series
racer hopes to add another win to his collection. “How can you not love
Crandon,” said Renezeder. “As a driver it combines the X and Y factors: speed
and technical sections, with the Z factor: flying through the air. There’s no
other rush quite like it.”
Team Renezeder Pro-4 Truck
“Racers need guts, talent and endurance to win at Crandon. The land-rush
start funnels into a four-wide, off camber, 100 mph, descending apex turn not
meant for the faint of heart. The next 1.75 miles has jumps leading into turns
that have broken many parts over the past few decades. There are also high-speed
and hairpin turns that, when used correctly, provide several places to pass. If
Renezeder races well for ten laps he may go home Sunday with a new Champions
Ring, the BorgWarner hardware and lots of spending money.
Team Renezeder uses K&N Engineering products. “As always, all of the K&N
products on our race trucks work flawlessly,” said Jennifer Bissett of American
Flyer Racing. “Whether it’s the high-flow K&N Air Filter protecting Menards’s
custom fuel injection system on our Nissan Titan Pro-2, or the K&N Oil Filter on
our Lucas Oil Pro-4, K&N products are as reliable as our driver’s talent. We
wouldn’t trust anything else under the hood.”
Team Renezeder Chases Championship Title
Team Renezeder is glad to be a part of some of the greatest racing this
country has to offer. Renezeder heads to Wisconsin in second place in both the
Pro-4 and Pro-2 CORR Lucas Oil Divisions.

The 2006 Legends Cars Championship Series continues in the UK with Chris Grieve
leading in points. Legends race cars are based on early Ford and Chevy bodies
built at 5/8ths scale. Ten different styles are produced with Yamaha 1200cc or
1250cc engines.
Legends Race Car
“The majority of competitors in the series use K&N Air Filters (RC-3510),”
said Ian Burdis of K&N Filters (Europe) Ltd. “The championship is a points based
series with points awarded in the heats and final. The races are held all over
the UK, and a few events are held in France.”
The fourth race at Oulton Park was the site of the largest UK Legends Cars grid
with 31 cars taking to the circuit. Dave Newsham was unstoppable and gave
everyone notice that the last three rounds of the championship will be intense.
Currently Newsham is second in the series, just 390 points behind leader Grieve.
Lawrence Davey took overall victory in Round 12 at Brands Hatch, placing him 4th
in overall points. The top five are Chris Grieve 6170 points, Dave Newsham 5780
points, Jamie Clarke 5740 points, Lawrence Davey 5570 points and Peter Morton at
4840 points.
Legends Racing takes place in Europe
K&N’s supported Legends racer Steve Thompson took 4th overall at Oulton
and currently is in 8th place with 3610 points.

2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Explorer models are some of Ford's best SUV's with more power, improved
performance, greater comfort and high tech safety gear. They are some of the best
traditional midsize SUV's on the market today.
Air Filter for Ford Explorer, Explorer Sport Trac and Murcury Mountaineer
K&N Engineering has designed a filter (33-2353)
to fit in the factory air box of the 2006 to 2010 Ford Explorer 4.6L V8. The drop-in
design makes its easy to add performance, simply remove the disposable air
filter in the Ford Explorer and replace it with the K&N Air Filter.
The 33-2353 also fits the 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 and 2010 Murcury Mountaineer and the 2007 to 2010 Ford Explorer Sport Trac.
Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters use a unique pleated design comprised
of an oiled cotton fabric sandwiched between two layers of epoxy-coated aluminum
screen. The filters capture airborne dirt particles while allowing high volume
air flow. These particles cling to the outside of the filter and become
part of the filtering media.
The washable, reusable, high flow flat panel filter is designed to increase
horsepower and acceleration, while providing excellent filtration. The
(33-2353)
is 1 inch in height (25mm) with an outside length of 15.313 inches (389mm) and
an outside width of 8.188 inches (208mm).
K&N invented the concept of washable, reusable filters more than 35 years ago. K&N's stock replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered by our
famous K&N Million-Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your
vehicle will ever need.
The 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer packs a Corvette-derived 6.0 liter V8 that can
yield zero-to-sixty acceleration in 5.7 seconds. This SUV's performance
suspension was refined in Germany for great handling. Take a look at our 57-3061 features video to see dyno testing in progress.
AirCharger Air Intake for 2008 Chevy Trailblazer
K&N Engineering, Inc. has made a 63 Series AirCharger Intake Kit (57-3061)
for the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer 6.0 liter V8.
K&N test have shown a horsepower gain of 18.18 @ 5330 RPM with the
57-3061
Intake Kit. "We were able to get such good horsepower because the original
factory airbox is restrictive," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "The
design of the K&N Intake Tube and placement of the mass air sensor and is a big
reason why we were able to get so much power."
K&N's 63 Series (57-3061) uses
a Round Tapered Universal Air
Filter (RF-1032) that can fit into the engine compartment using factory holes and
mounting points. It takes less than an hour to install this kit and the lifetime
K&N Air Filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required
depending on driving conditions. "We used the chrome top on the filter to add to
the appeal of the Trailblazer," said Heck. "It's a very straight forward
installation." Take a look at our 57-3061 installation video to see all the steps involved.
