Dr. Macrae Glass races the class 8000 KC HiLites/General Tire Ford 150 in the Best In The Desert series with his sons Robby and Walker; both of whom are named after famous drivers

The Bluewater Resort & Casino Parker 425 can trace its roots back to 1972 in the early days of off-road desert racing. Best In The Desert, Inc. (BITD), owned and operated by Casey Folks, has kept this legendary race alive. The 2015 Parker 425 hosted racers ranging from UTV sportsman classes, to pro classes open to vehicles similar to SCORE Trophy Trucks. The annual race was held on February 6th, 2015 and claims to be the only off-road race in America to start on the street.

Dr. Macrae Glass, a chiropractor based in Kingman, Arizona, drives his Class 8000 Modified Production Full Size Truck in the Best In The Desert series. Dr. Glass is no stranger to racing the BITD series, or to winning. Glass has accrued 7 class championships, 5 of which were consecutive wins. Macrae races with his two sons Robby and Walker, named after famous off-road racers. For the 2015 Bluewater Resort & Casino Parker 425, Macrae teamed up with legendary racer Curt LeDuc to share driving duties of the KC HiLites/General Tire Ford 150.

Glass’ son Robby was the navigator for entire duration of the 400+ mile race

Glass’ son Robby handled the responsibilities of navigator for the entire duration of the 400+ mile race which took 8 hours and 23 minutes, with Macrae stating “He never got out of the truck!”

Dr. Glass covered driving duties for the first two of three laps, with Curt LeDuc hopping in the driver’s seat to finish out the 2015 Parker 425. Glass’ son Robby handled the responsibilities of navigator for the entire duration of the race. Macrae said “He never got out of the truck!” This is almost an unthinkable feat, as the team was on course for over 8 hours and 20 minutes. “We only stopped twice for fuel and the driver change,” said Glass.

No doubt reliable equipment and proper maintenance led to the KC HiLites/General Tire Ford 150’s class 8000 victory at the Parker 425. Macrae lives by the motto “Stay after it in the shop and have fun in the desert!” Macrae relies on top quality products from companies like General Tire, King Shocks, KC HiLites, MSD Performance and of course, K&N filters. “K&N Filters are in charge of keeping the engine running clean,” said Macrae. Macrae has over 30 career wins, and as he said “All with K&N Filters.”

Boost Turbocharged 1.4L Multair Powered 2013-2016 Fiat 500L Performance with K&N Air Filter

K&N air filter for 2013-2016 Fiat 500L 1.4L U.S. spec models

Owners of 2013-2016 Fiat 500L 1.4L U.S. spec models searching for a little more get up and go should look no further than the K&N drop-in replacement air filter, number 33-5015

The Fiat brand was reintroduced to the North American market in Italian Renaissance fashion with the 2011 Fiat 500. Fiat had been absent from North America for 27 years and the retro-inspired Fiat 500 was immediately popular for its Italian styling and fuel efficiency. As quickly as the Fiat 500 was leaving dealership lots, a sub-compact car with cramped rear seating can be a hard pill to swallow for potential buyers. This is exactly why Fiat introduced the 500L, L meaning Large/Lounge, for car buyers who like the undeniable Italian styling but need a little more space.

The Fiat 500L has been equipped with the same 160 horsepower and 184 lb-ft torque 1.4L Multiair turbo engine found in the Fiat 500 Abarth performance model to compensate for its larger size. While the 1.4L Multiair turbo engine is pretty responsive, 2013-2016 Fiat 500L owners are searching for a boost in power. Charlie Lobosco, a K&N user from Ohio, emailed K&N saying “I have a Fiat 500L which I like more than I thought. It’s pretty peppy with the (Multiair) engine but we always want more.”

Owners of 2013-2016 Fiat 500L 1.4L U.S. spec models searching for a little more get up and go should look no further than a K&N drop-in replacement air filter 33-5015. K&N air filters are designed to increase airflow and reduce restriction compared to standard disposable air filters. For standard on-road replacement air filters K&N uses four-layers of cotton gauze sandwiched between wire mesh to form the basis for our high-flow performance air filters. With the addition of K&N’s specially formulated cotton air filter oil, K&N replacement air filters are able provide superior airflow, and superior performance, without sacrificing engine protection.

The K&N replacement air filter for 2013-2016 Fiat 500L U.S. spec models is a performance designed upgrade which will fit inside the stock air filter box without the need for any modifications. As Charlie Lobosco said, “I was pointed to this air filter as a very low cost but efficient way to take in more air which results in more power.” Charlie continued to say “I’m pleased with the performance since putting in this air filter! My Fiat seems more aggressive. I like driving it even more now!” K&N replacement air filters can usually be installed in about 5 minutes and often will not require any tools.

K&N replacement air filters are 50-state emissions legal and will not void the manufacturer’s vehicle warranty. K&N air filters are washable and reusable and backed by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. Because the K&N replacement air filter for 2014 Fiat 500L 1.4L turbo U.S. spec models is able to be cleaned and reused, it will pay for itself over time. The pleated design and high-flow technology built into K&N replacement air filters will increase air filter service intervals up to 50,000 miles depending on driving conditions. For many drivers, this means it could be four years before air filter cleaning will be required. When it does come time to clean a K&N air filter, K&N Recharger kits are readily available and include simple 4-step instructions to return the filter to like-new performance.

K&N replacement air filter 33-5015 is designed as a direct air filter cross reference to the stock 2013-2016 Fiat 500L 1.4L US air filter, number 68202151AA. K&N air filters can be purchased on the K&N website, or to find an authorized K&N dealer near you, use Search for K&N Dealer lookup tool.

K&N race specific air filter, number 33-5008, for the 2006-2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR uses a unique pleat pattern to be less restrictive, providing high airflow & basic engine protection

The Porsche 911 GT3 was originally developed as a higher-performance version of the Porsche 911 sports car intended for racing. The GT3 was named after the FIA GT3 class it was designed to compete in. The 997 generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 has several road going variants, however the 2006-2012 RSR is a different car with reduced weight, improved handling, and increased horsepower. Often time’s road racers will remove their air filter in hopes of squeezing every ounce of power out of their car as possible. However, K&N feels that air filters are important for engine protection and can even straighten airflow for improved combustion.

K&N Upgrades Fueled By The Fallen 9/11 Angels with The World’s Best Air Filter

2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS models were transformed into tributes for the victims of September 11th, 2001

Five road going 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS models were transformed into the next generation rolling tribute for the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001

K&N equipped five 2011 Chevy Camaro RS models built as tributes to the lives lost on September 11, 2001

K&N had the opportunity to equip five 2011 Chevy Camaro RS models built as rolling tributes to the lives lost on September 11, 2001 with American made K&N high-flow air filter technology

In 2007 Kevyn Major Howard, a Canadian born actor known for his role as “Rafterman” in the 1987 Stanley Kubrick film Full Metal Jacket, challenged himself to recall a single name from the list of casualties of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan he had recently heard on the evening news. Kevyn said “I woke up one morning and challenged myself to name just one person who has died for my freedom", he continued. "I couldn't." Kevyn decided to change that, and the result was the Fueled By The Fallen, 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our Military Members, Public Safety Personnel, and their Families to aid in their emotional, physical, and financial recovery needs.

Kevyn worked with Chuck Spiker, a drag racer and former Karting champion, to create a rolling memorial that would get the attention of all Americans. "We chose race cars because you can get the attention of a two year and a ninety-two year old with one", Kevyn said. Chuck took a 1963 Nova and created a 10 second quarter mile door slammer drag car representing fallen Marines from Iraq and Afghanistan. "Maybe I can get people who look upon the race car to remember just one name. If I can do that, I have accomplished my mission," Kevyn continued.

The Fueled By The Fallen 9/11 Angels Cruisers Chevrolet Camaro RS cars were ferried to Ellis Island and placed at the foot of America’s most iconic symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty

That first 1963 Nova drag car memorial only represented a small fraction of the fallen military members that Kevyn wanted to commemorate, which meant he would need more cars. The memorial expanded to include a 1966 Chevy Nova commemorating the names of another 174 fallen Marines from Iraq and Afghanistan. There is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T which features the names of 99 fallen Air Force personnel from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a 1992 Ford Mustang LX Fox Body featuring names of fallen Army personnel from Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally there is the Navy "USS Enterprise" Tribute Nitro Funny Car, and a Ford Crown Victoria "National Law Enforcement Memorial" Cruiser.

As the 10 anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 approached Kevyn Major Howard decided to take his rolling memorial idea to the next level. It was decided that five road going 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS models would be transformed into the next generation rolling tribute. This time, however, Fueled By The Fallen would keep these cars licensed and registered for the street in an effort to reach a larger audience. The results have been nothing short of amazing, and on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 the Angels Cruisers were unveiled on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

During its travels Fueled By The Fallen has had the opportunity of interacting with celebrities Jay Leno, Danny Trejo, Ann-Margret, and even former U.S. President George H. W. Bush Sr.

Each of the 9/11 Angels Cruisers is numbered from 1 to 5 and serves to remind future generations of the lives lost on that fateful day of September 11th, 2001. Angel 1 has the names of ground zero first responders, Angels 2 and 3 features the names of the lives lost in the World Trade Center towers, Angel 4 lists the names of victims at the Pentagon, and Angel 5 represents the names of the lives lost on the four high-jacked airplanes. The Angels series 9/11 tribute cars have become so meaningful that Kevyn and the Fueled By The Fallen team have been invited to appear at the foot of America’s most iconic symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty. During its travels Fueled By The Fallen has had the opportunity of interacting with celebrities Jay Leno, Danny Trejo, Ann-Margret, Gary Sinise and even to former President George H. W. Bush Senior’s summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

As Kevyn Major Howard has said “I have had a blessed life. I have had the opportunity as an actor to work with such greats as Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra, Charles Bronson, Stanley Kubrick and many others. It is my privilege and honor to fight for the financial assistance our American heroes need.” K&N is proud to have helped The Fueled By The Fallen organization and hopes that they will enjoy the long service intervals and increased performance associated with a K&N air filter during their travels. For 2015 Kevyn hopes to organize a procession of motorcycles led by the 9/11 Angels Cruisers from Los Angeles, California to Sturgis, South Dakota in time to kick off the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally August 3-9, 2015. While supplying the five Fueled By The Fallen 9/11 Angels Camaros with K&N performance air filter 33-2434 is a simple gesture, K&N hopes that as Kevyn Major Howard and the Fueled By The Fallen team travel the country the effect these rolling tributes can have will snowball into something larger.

Hill made his debut in the in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East at Columbus Motor Speedway in 2012 and recorded his first win in September of 2013. He took this push with him as the race began on the .48-mile high-banked oval race track just south of Daytona. Hill would go on to lead all 150 laps of the race, with only a small challenge coming from rookie Dalton Sargeant on a restart. “I was getting worried on the restarts, five laps was about when my car would really start to get up and really go,” Hill said. “So about five laps I would have to hold them off and then it would finally get going.”

Sargeant started ninth following an engine change that morning; however he wasted no time moving toward the front of the pack. “It was just a car length off of first, so it’s a bit disappointing,” said Sargeant. “But overall for my first race in the K&N Pro Series East, we had a really good run.” Dalton is a Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender.

Gray Gaulding finished third in his Krispy Kreme Chevrolet, Scott Heckert finished fourth, and another Rookie of the Year contender, Kyle Benjamin, rounded out the top five. The next NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race will be on April fourth at Greenville Pickens Speedway for the Greenville 150.
