2008-2015 Harley-Davidson Cycles Get K&N Intake with Taller Air Filter for Better Airflow

Arguably the most popular motorcycle manufacturer in the world, Harley-Davidson® was created in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in 1903 and is one of two American motorcycle builders to survive the Great Depression.
Known as the originator of the chopper style of motorcycles, it has traditionally offered heavyweight, air-cooled cruisers with an engine displacement greater than 700cc and also known for V-Twin Racing Street Custom (VRSC) and middleweight street platforms. In 1901, prior to the launch of the business, 20-year-old William S. Harley drew up a plan for the company's first motor bicycle that included a small engine with a 7.07-cubic inch (116 cc) displacement and 4-inch (102 mm) flywheel with the idea of integrating it to a regular pedal-bicycle frame. Harley enlisted the help of childhood friend Arthur Davidson and Arthur's brother Walter and the three tinkered for the next two years resulting in the creation of a motor-bicycle. While riding the contraption, the three discovered that it wasn't powerful enough to climb the hills around Milwaukee without some pedal assistance and they dropped it and immediately started developing an improved second-generation machine that featured a 24.74-cubic inch (405 cc) engine with 9.75 inches (25 cm) flywheels. The loop frame design of a larger engine took the machine out of the category of a motor bicycle and it became the forerunner of what we now know as a motorcycle. In 1905 and 1906, they were producing single-cylinder models with a 26.84-cubic inch (440 cc) engine and in February 1907 a prototype model with a 45-degree V-Twin engine was showcased at the Chicago Automobile Show. The 45-degree angle of the engine received several United States patents and allowed more torque in a relatively small space. The layout causes the cylinders to fire at uneven intervals producing a distinctive choppy sound that has been associated with the Harley-Davidson brand. Through the years Harley-Davidson has produced a variety of engines to power its motorcycles including 13 Big V-twins, eight Small V-twins, the Revolution and single-cylinder engines. Harley-Davidson has produced various models including the Touring (Road King, Road Glide, Street Glide, and Electra Glide), Softail, Dyna (Super Glide), Sportster, VRSC, VRXSE, and Street. The air filter is washable and reusable. K&N recommends cleaning it at least once a year, depending on driving conditions.
