The final round of the 2007 Speedway World Championship Grand Prix was billed as
the richest minute in motorsports. The $100,000 purse in United States dollars
went to the winner at the Veltins Arena in Gelsenkirschen, Germany in
celebration of the 100th Speedway Grand Prix.

The world’s top 16 riders battled it out to the bitter end for the prize.
“The racing was fast and furious throughout the evening,” said Jason Crump. “I
went to Germany on a mission to ride better than I have all year.”

Sweden’s Andreas Jonsson took first place and American Greg Hancock took second.
Rounding out the podium finish was Australian Jason Crump in third place. Crump
said he was disappointed, but managed to celebrate his solid performance as he
accepted his bronze medal in the 2007 championship chase.
It was a difficult and hard year for the 2004 and 2006 World Speedway Champion.
Early in the season mechanical problems and several injuries including a broken
knee cap plagued Crump. “With all the issues in 2007 to finish as World number 3
is satisfying even though it is my worst result in seven years,” he said. “I
need to take some time out away from racing so I can come back fully fit and
determined to win back the world crown in 2008. You have not seen the end of me,
there is some unfinished business to complete.”
Crump uses K&N Engineering products. “K&N Filters do the job they were designed
to do,” he said. “I have solely used K&N products and never had a problem. K&N
is the best for dirt track racing. They are unquestionably the greatest filter
on the market. When you are racing for World Championships you need the best
equipment available and K&N delivers just that.”
Crump will be staying in England for about five weeks preparing contracts for
the 2008 season. He will fly to his home on the Gold Coast in Queensland,
Australia for a summer break with his family.

The quest for the SCCA SPEED World Challenge championship will come down to 50 minutes of racing at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca on Sunday, October 21.
Ron Fellows in pursuit of SPEED GT Championship
Team Cadillac is in strong contention for the drivers and manufacturers' standing after nine races at tracks from Sebring and Long Beach to Salt Lake City and Toronto. Cadillac leads the manufacturers' standings and Cadillac drivers Lawson Ashenbach and Andy Pilgrim are second and third in the driver rankings. Ron Fellows could be the wild card driving Team Cadillac's third race-prepared CTS-V at Laguna Seca. Team Cadillac is equipped with K&N Engineering Oil Filters (HP-1007).
Team Cadillac to race in Toronto Street Race
Cadillac is in position to repeat its 2005 sweep of the SPEED GT manufacturers' and drivers' titles. If Cadillac wins the pole or finishes 6th or better it wraps the manufacturers' championship. With 40 points on the line at Laguna Seca, the drivers' championships could go any way.
"Our strategy of running a third car at selected events has worked well for us," said GM Road Racing Group Manager Steve Wesoloski. "We were able to come out of Road Atlanta with a 10-point lead. Anything can happen in racing, but we have a good cushion going into the last race."
Fellows will have a front-row seat when the championship race unfolds. This will be his fifth start of the season with Team Cadillac. Fellows posted runner-up finishes in Toronto and Atlanta.
"My role is first to provide Cadillac with a third opportunity to clinch the manufacturers' title and then to help Lawson and Andy," said Fellows. "The Laguna Seca track can be difficult because of the sand that gets blown onto the course. I'm optimistic that we'll race just fine."
The final round of the 10-race SPEED GT Series is scheduled to start at 2.55 p.m. PST on Sunday October 21. The race will be televised on SPEED TV on Sunday, October 28 at 1 p.m. PST.

Sometimes similarities are genetic, sometimes the similarity becomes
familiarity. Tawny Strader grew up watching her father race, now she is the
racer and he is her crew. The legacy that passed from father to daughter shines
in a 16-year-old girl.

In her first year of racing, Tawny finished third in points overall in the High
School Series at Edgewater. That win propelled the high-school junior from
Brookville, Ohio to the O'Reilly Raceway Park Summit Finals.
"I had two good qualifying runs there, but on the first round I red-lighted,"
said Tawny. "I need to do better next time. There is always room for improvement
as far as I'm concerned. I am determined to make it to the finals in 2008."
Tawny likes the competition and likes to work on her Pontiac. "It's important to
know my car so I can race better," she said. "I have small hands and they can
fit in tiny spaces under the engine. I also helped replace the radiator. My dad
is teaching me about mechanics."
"We use K&N products (57-3010-1)," said Tawny's father Keith Strader. "K&N makes
a big difference in performance and power on our Pontiac."
The season begins again for Tawny in April 2008. She plans to be back at
Edgewater with her Pontiac equipped with K&N.
