Crump managed only two laps in the Friday practice. “He did not have full strength in his left arm and retired in pain,” said Stone. “He knew the race ahead of him would be difficult.”

Poland’s Tomasz Gollob began the race in third place overall. He won the semi-final and was victorious in the final. Gollob is now only 17 points behind Crump. The final round of the World Series Grand Prix will be at Gollob’s home track in three weeks.

“The doctors cleared me to ride in Italy but the pain was so intense and the lack of strength made it almost impossible to compete,” said Crump. “But those four points could end up being the difference at the end.”

It has come down to the final round to determine the 2009 World Champion. Three riders can take the title, Jason Crump, Tomasz Gollob and Russian Emil Sayfutdinov. Crump said he will not give up his lead easily.

“I will be receiving daily treatment at the hospital in Northampton and working out in the gym each day in the hopes that I will be recovered in time,” said Crump. “Winning a third World Championship is my ultimate goal right now. I am so close yet so far away.”

The 2009 World Championship Grand Prix top three Points Standings are:

Jason Crump 150 points
Tomasz Gollob 133 points
Emil Sayfutdinov 131

“Naturally I will be giving it everything I have,” said Crump. “I will also be racing with K&N products. In my sport filtration is the most important thing for reliability. Reliability wins me races and World Championships and that is why I rely on K&N filters. I race on the dirt and keeping the dirt out of the engine is critical. At the same time K&N lets my engines breathe for maximum performance on the track every time.”

The final round of the 2009 World Speedway Grand Prix World Championship takes place at Bydgoszcz in Poland on Saturday, October 17.

Four Door Nissan Maxima Sports Car Receives 13 More Horsepower with K&N Air Intake System

A sports car is typically defined as having two doors, and often does not have a rear seat. This is not true with the Nissan Maxima. In 1989 Nissan boldly began calling their flagship sedan a Four Door Sports Car, or 4DSC for short.

More than 20 years later the Maxima’s sports car heritage is alive and well. The midsize Maxima is powered by a 3.5-liter V6 that is capable of producing 290 horsepower. Planting this power to the ground is a continuously variable transmission and an optional sport tuned suspension package.

Performance like this should turn the heads of some BMW and Mercedes owners as the Maxima flies past. Here to introduce even more performance to an already sporty sedan is K&N’s 69-7002TTK performance air intake system for the 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2012 Nissan Maxima 3.5-liter V6 engine.

The Maxima’s high-tech 3.5-liter V6 with a continuously variable valve timing control system is an excellent candidate for one of K&N’s free-flowing mandrel-bent powder coated aluminum intake systems. K&N air intake 69-7002TTK replaces the Maxima’s stock intake tract while retaining the use of the factory fresh air intake duct.

K&N’s Research and Development Department tested a 2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5 liter V6 equipped with 69-7002TTK on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed horsepower increases across the RPM range with an extraordinary peak horsepower gain of 13.25 horsepower @ 5249 RPM! K&N air intake 69-7002TTK provides increased performance and an attractive black powder coated aluminum intake tube.

K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow by replacing the factory air intake assembly with an aerodynamically engineered tube and an oversized conical air filter. With a K&N performance air intake system, consumers can count on increased acceleration and horsepower whether curving along a lonely country road, or heading to work.

This air intake system uses a conical shaped chrome top high-flow air filter (RC-2960) and powder coated aluminum heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock air box. The result is a high-flow air filter that captures harmful particles, provides a large surface area, and has a long service life. This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions.

K&N air intake 69-7002TTK takes about 90 minutes or less to install, using stock mounting points, requires no cutting or drilling, and is covered by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty®.

For increased protection and style, K&N offers a Drycharger® filter wrap, number 22-8049DK, which can be used in conjunction with part number 69-7002TTK. Drychargers® are made from a durable polyester material containing uniform micron openings which will stop small dirt particles and repel water; yet add little restriction to the airflow of your filter.

The K&N 69-7002TTK air intake system fits the following vehicles:
2016 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2015 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2014 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2013 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2012 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2011 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2010 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6
2009 Nissan Maxima 3.5L V6

World's Fastest Motorcycle is K&N Sponsored BUB Streamliner Seven

The K&N sponsored BUB Streamliner Seven has set a new motorcycle world record of 367.382 mph in the Land Speed Shootout on the Bonneville Salt Flats. That makes pilot Chris Carr the fastest man on two wheels.

In the first run of the day at the Salts, Carr was blown off course by a side wind. He went through the 4 ¼ mile marker flag on the edge of the course at over 300 mph. The run was aborted and the Bub Streamliner was taken back to the starting line for another attempt.

On the next run, Carr moved about 31 feet off his line in the measured mile but kept it wide open to record a run of 367.809 mph. The team then had only two hours to prepare the machine for his return run. For a Bonneville record, pilots must make two good runs and then average the speeds. Carr next went through the measured mile at 366.956 mph for a two way average of 367.382 mph and the new world record.

The K&N sponsored BUB Streamliner Seven is the first motorcycle to break 350 mph. It has a revolutionary composite frame and is equipped with a K&N oil filter, part number HP-3002.

The BUB Streamliner Seven is powered by a 3 liter, turbocharged 16 valve V4 engine that produces nearly 500 horsepower and 400 lb-fit of torque @ 8500 rpm. “Our K&N oil filter did its job with the stresses put on the motor and the oil pressure and flow required to run over 360 mph,” said Carr. “We would not use anything else. K&N oil filters give us the assurance that our motor will run smooth and without restriction. At these speeds we cannot have engine failure.”
