In motorsports, a seasons success can often be defined by looking at the number of trophy's sitting on the mantle at the end of the year. For Grayson, Kentucky dirt late model driver Josh McGuire, 2011 turned out to be a season full of mantle fillers.

"Overall, this year was a success," McGuire said. "We really had a great car all year. We were a top five contender at most events we entered."

McGuire finished the season with 6 wins, 12 top 5's, and 15 top 10's in 32 events. He captured career-defining wins at the Butterball Woolridge Memorial Race at Richmond Raceway Park in Ky. and in a $5,000 to win open race at Atomic Raceway in Ohio. The end of the season was particularly strong for McGuire.

"We really turned a corner in our performance late in the year and got a winning groove going," McGuire said. "We were really sad to see (the season) come to an end."

The season wasn't all a success though. McGuire and his team found the television spotlight for all of the wrong reasons during the Jackson 100, one of the teams favorite events. McGuire flipped seven times in a race televised on SPEED, making highlight reels for years to come. But despite the wreck and an engine failure that caused McGuire to sit out a few weeks, the team broke through in the most important race of the season.

The $7,500 payday at the Butterball Woolridge Memorial Race was certainly a gratifying moment for McGuire and his U.S. Steel #41 team. McGuire had finished in the runner-up position multiple times at the event, and while the payout was the richest of the season, the win was gratifying for bigger reasons.

"Winning the Butterball Memorial was very special to me and my team. Finally capturing the win at this race, and honoring such a wonderful racer, was quite an accomplishment, and of course one that could not be done without the help of K&N," McGuire said.

With the 2012 season on the horizon, McGuire and his JMR team have an ambitious schedule in the works.

"Things are coming together well for JMR," McGuire said. "We plan to head south for Speedweeks in February to kick off the season. Then we'll return home, regroup and get ready for our regions kickoff in April. We are planning on running an outlaw type of schedule, with several series including the Lucas Oil and World of Outlaws events. Ending on such a positive note in 2011 really helps to carry momentum into this season. We are excited and ready to get back on the track."

McGuire and his team said they would like to thank K&N for their continued support. "K&N has been with us from the beginning. They really provide a competitive advantage."

It takes a certain vision to create a master piece but, sometimes it's natural. Take a 1944 Mac Fire Truck for example. What ingredients do you need to make this vintage fire truck and make it look cool? All you need is the owner, Roger Brown, and custom designer, Tom Stark from Precision Designs. Roger and Tom have been friends for quite a sometime. They worked together on a Safety Safari team for NHRA. Somewhere down the line Roger got a hold of old fire truck and wanted to do something special with it. He contacted his buddy Tom and said, "Hi Tom, What do you think about building a Hot Rod fire truck?" Naturally, after viewing pictures the vehicle, Tom agreed to tackle the massive project.

The "Black Dragon", as it is called, has under gone major suspension work, custom panel building, and hours of paint work. To support the heavy frame and body, the suspension was upgraded with some beefy support bars and heavy duty air bags. Once that was accomplished, an SRT10 motor and brakes were added. Next, came the daunting task of setting up the steering column and foot controls. Tom mentioned that the goal was to eliminate the, "sitting on top like a bus," feeling and get the driver down in the vehicle. The controls were fit specifically for the driver. Once everything was mocked up Tom says, "The 1944 Mack was sent off to Nice Rides Restorations for the 'Dripping Black' single stage" paint. It took some serious skill to lay down this flawless single stage paint; not to mention, the gold leaf and chrome work.

Tom mentioned, "The fire truck will be the featured vehicle at the upcoming Super Nationals in Albuquerque, NM February 3rd through February 5th. Then the fire truck is heading to Kansas City for the World of Wheels February 10, 11 & 12th." So keep your eye out for this awesome ride.

Tom believes, "Listening to the wants and needs of our customers and building the projects to their expectations," is what makes his company special.

Other major people that deserve recognition for this build are Dare Wolleson and Matt Wagner.

One of the unique components we would like to point out is the universal K&N high flow air filter. Tom claimed, "We have used K&N filters for our daily drivers and race cars for years, so choosing K&N seemed the natural choice." K&N makes over 1200 universal air filters for automotive and powersports applications. These air filters come in handy when space is limited.

Rob and Brandy own Ding Masters located in Banning, Ca. They offer the usual auto body services such as paint, window tint, and dent removal; hence the name Ding Masters. Running an auto body shop is like running a tattoo parlor; in that, you have the opportunity to get creative with your work. Many consumers like to customize their vehicles and what better way to do so than add a custom paint job.

Ding Masters got pretty creative with this 2000 Ford Excurison. It not only brings a dream to life, but proves that they produce excellent results when it comes to vehicle customization.

Many aftermarket products were used to complete this special build, such as; a K&N air filter, Super Swamper tires, MHT wheels, Fiberine custom fiberglass top, Xenia Pacific custom vehicle wrap, and Conti-tech air bags. The aquatic theme can be found inside and out. The interior can only be described as a luxurious sea adventure. There is a wraparound bench with a cocktail table and plenty of head room for passengers. Riding in the back of the "Seascursion" must be like taking a ride in an underwater limousine.

Charles Young, from Ding Masters, mentioned, "The vehicle mainly sits at the Ding Master collision center for advertising purposes." This is a great advertising tool. How could you possibly miss this huge aquarium parked on a street corner? I must say, it is quite impressive to see in person.

This truck is a glimpse of what goes on after hours in the Ding Master shop. Long hours were put into building and preparing this rig for SEMA.
