The 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer packs a Corvette-derived 6.0 liter V8 that can
yield zero-to-sixty acceleration in 5.7 seconds. This SUV's performance
suspension was refined in Germany for great handling. Take a look at our 57-3061 features video to see dyno testing in progress.
AirCharger Air Intake for 2008 Chevy Trailblazer
K&N Engineering, Inc. has made a 63 Series AirCharger Intake Kit (57-3061)
for the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer 6.0 liter V8.
K&N test have shown a horsepower gain of 18.18 @ 5330 RPM with the
57-3061
Intake Kit. "We were able to get such good horsepower because the original
factory airbox is restrictive," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "The
design of the K&N Intake Tube and placement of the mass air sensor and is a big
reason why we were able to get so much power."
K&N's 63 Series (57-3061) uses
a Round Tapered Universal Air
Filter (RF-1032) that can fit into the engine compartment using factory holes and
mounting points. It takes less than an hour to install this kit and the lifetime
K&N Air Filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required
depending on driving conditions. "We used the chrome top on the filter to add to
the appeal of the Trailblazer," said Heck. "It's a very straight forward
installation." Take a look at our 57-3061 installation video to see all the steps involved.
The 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet HHR, which stands for Heritage High Roof has a distinctive
silhouette and a design that is similar to the 1949 Chevy Suburban. The
crossover vehicle has front-wheel drive with roots that lie deep in Chevrolet
history.
Air Intake for 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet HHR
K&N Engineering, Inc. has made a 63 Series AirCharger Intake Kit (63-3056)
for the 2008, 2009, 2010 and 2011 Chevrolet HHR 2.4L L4. "It's the first time K&N has used an airbox
in an intake kit," said Bert Heck, K&N Performance Kit Manger. "Designed for
maximum air flow the unique airbox keeps the engine heat away from the open
element air filter and provides a cooler air charge."
K&N tests have shown a horsepower gain of 9.33 @ 5325 RPM with the K&N (63-3056)
Intake Kit. K&N Engineers were able to get such good horsepower because the
original factory airbox and original filter were restrictive. The K&N Intake
Tube design along with our K&N Filter with radius adaptor are big reasons why
K&N was able to get so much power.
Bill Ferrell, an Upland, California resident bought a new HHR. He allowed K&N's
Research and Development Engineers to use his Chevy as a prototype for the 63
Series AirCharger Intake Kit (63-3056).
K&N Engineering has a
vehicle loan program. "It works this way," said Heck. "A vehicle owner
agrees to let us do testing on their vehicle. After K&N develops an intake, we
give the owner a free kit for the use of the vehicle. In this case the MSRP of
the intake is 399.00." For more information about loaning your vehicle for air intake development see the Vehicles Needed page.
"The HHR is a 4 cylinder, and when I bought it the car did not have a lot of
pizzazz," said Ferrell. "Now that my HHR has the K&N AirCharger Intake Kit it
has a lot of pizzazz. I can feel the power. It really is the difference between
night and day."
K&N 63 Series Air Intake Kits use a round tapered universal Air Filter (RC-5149)
that can fit into the engine compartment using factory holes and mounting
points. It takes less than an hour to install this kit and the lifetime K&N Air
Filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on
driving conditions.
Carl Renezeder has won four out of the last six races in the Pro-2 division of
CORR’s Lucas Oil Racing Series and sits only five points behind the leader.
Rounds nine and ten of a 16-race series took place this past weekend at Bark
River, Michigan.
On Saturday, the Pro-2 race got off to a very good start for Team
Renezeder’s Lucas Oil Nissan Titan. Renezeder reached the end of the land rush
start without a scratch on the truck and crossed the finish/start line in fourth
place to start the first lap. He closed the gap on the leader by lap seven of
the ten-lap race. Renezeder was positioned for another win, but a broken
accessory belt driveline put him in 13th place at he finish.
Sunday was a much better day for Team Renezeder. A successful start put
Renezeder in second place at the start of the first lap. By lap two, he passed
Travis Coyne for the lead and never looked back. Renezeder put win number four
in the history books and put himself back in the second place position in
points. Renezeder also sits second in the four-wheel drive division by 12
points.
“I want it all,” said Renezeder. “I want to celebrate the win, but I’m
disappointed with the rest of the results. As a competitor, it’s tough to
separate each race. We are grateful for the one win and glad to be in the hunt
for both championships.”
Team Renezeder Pro-4
The Laguna Beach, California racer has used K&N Engineering products since
he started his own team 8 years ago. “Carl will only use a K&N Filter,” said
Jennifer Bissett of Team Renezeder. “In the dust and heat K&N stops the dirt and
debris from getting into our engine. We’ve never had a problem on these trucks
with K&N Filters.”
Team Renezeder's next challenge is for the coveted BorgWarner Cup race, the
second of two “heavy metal” races this season.

K&N Engineering, Inc. has been the World leader in performance filter technology since 1969. With more than 35 years of air filtration experience, K&N prides itself as being the innovator of the unique cotton air filtration system and
creating the World’s Best High-Flow Air Filter. Headquartered in Riverside,
California, the family run company serves the needs of the powersports,
automotive, marine, industrial and military markets all over the world.
On March 26, 1963 a small group of manufacturers formed a group called the Speed
Equipment Manufacturers Association (SEMA). One of the goals was to develop
uniform standards for products. There were only 36 original members.

Around 1967, the SEMA name changed to Specialty Equipment Manufacturing
Association, to reach out to a wider base of automotive manufacturers. As
emissions and safety issues on vehicles became consumer concerns, speed on city
streets took a back seat. The original market had expanded.
K&N Engineering has been a member of SEMA for around 30 years. “One of the
original SEMA shows was at Dodger Stadium,” said Steve Williams, K&N Vice
President of Product Development and Engineering. “In the early days everyone
sold product and everyone shared. The whole industry was smaller back then and
you met your customers.”
The early shows were masking tape and card table venues. Competitors in the
automotive industry met face-to-face and showcased their new products to
potential buyers. “In the past most manufacturers were family run,” said
Williams. “The industry was entrepreneurial in nature. Even though they competed
there was more unity at the time. People shared concerns and executed
solutions.”
In the early 1970s marketing techniques and sophisticated exhibits could be seen
throughout SEMA. The show moved to the Anaheim Convention Center and attendance
increased dramatically. SEMA developed a reputation as a place where business
was done.
The organization to grow and was moved to Las Vegas, Nevada in 1977. In 1979,
SEMA became the Specialty Equipment Market Association to meet the needs of
those involved in specialty automotive equipment, not just manufacturers.
Today the annual SEMA Show is held usually in late October or early November in
Las Vegas, in conjunction with the Automotive Aftermarket Industry Week. SEMA
and other automotive aftermarket trade organizations make-up the single largest
event on the Las Vegas calendar.

In 2006 more than 100,000 will be attending the world’s largest parts and
accessories extravaganza. More than 7500 booths will cover 3 million square feet
at the Las Vegas Convention Center at the end of October.
K&N will have a booth to show what sets the company apart from the rest.
Employees will talk to customers and potential customers and showcase new
products and technology. K&N plans to share test data and release its latest
marketing program and unveil two very special cars.
SEMA and K&N were started by people who loved vehicles and turned their hobby
into a career. SEMA members make, buy, sell and use all kinds of specialty parts
and accessories in the multi-billion dollar automotive industry.
World of Outlaws Donny Schatz won the 46th Annual Super Clean Knoxville
Nationals Saturday, the biggest race in sprint car racing.
“It hasn’t really hit me,” said Schatz, following the biggest race of his
career. “I’m as excited as I’ve ever been in my life. This is one of the
defining moments of my life. This is it. It does not get any bigger than this.
It does not get any better. We are fortunate to work with such great product
sponsors and without them we wouldn’t be here. The folks at K&N Engineering
build a Carbon Airbox that is second to none. When you are racing in an event of
this magnitude, you have to be totally confident in all of your components.”
Donny Schatz wins Knoxville Nationals
The World of Outlaws points leader and the ParkerStore team were one of
the favorites heading into this year’s Nationals. After leading the qualifying
points, Schatz earned the pole position with a strong run in Friday’s “A”
Scramble, which served as a test session for Saturday’s finale.
In the 30-lap feature event, Schatz and fellow front row starter Joey Saldana
each took turns grabbing the lead in two attempts at starting the race, until
the race went green on the third try. Saldana took the early lead, but Schatz
was his shadow as the two swapped lines in each corner. Schatz had the lead on
lap four, but Saldana regained it the next time and carried it into lapped
traffic.
Schatz set his sights on Saldana and continued to move closer and closer. With a
move late in lap 12, the Fargo, North Dakota racer took command and began
pulling away from the field. A yellow flag on lap 18 bunched the field before a
red flag stopped the action two laps later.
The ParkerStore crew made no changes to the No. 15 car and let Schatz know he
was the best out there and there were only ten more laps to go for the coveted
Knoxville crown.
When the race resumed, Schatz drove away from Saldana and built a commanding
lead taking the win by a huge margin. “The K&N Airbox worked flawlessly all week
and we had changing conditions all three nights,” he said. “We were able to
attain maximum horsepower Wednesday, Friday and ultimately on Saturday night to
claim the Knoxville Nationals. I have to thank all the folks at K&N for their
dedication to building a superior product.”

This is such a big deal for all of us, said Schatz. “I wanted to win this
race for a long time and had to settle for second too many times,” he said. “We
work hard as a team and hard work is what won this race. Joey (Saldana) ran a
great race and we’ve had some good battles all year. He got me in the King’s
Royal and I got him at the Knoxville Nationals. Now it’s time to head west and
see if we can win more races.”
Schatz and his ParkerStore team will return to action Thursday at Black Hills
Speedway in Rapid City, South Dakota.
