World of Outlaws 2006 Champion Donny Schatz is on a winning streak at Tyrepower
Parramatta City Raceway near Sydney, Australia. The North Dakota resident left
the United States two days before Christmas. His plans are to match his results
from last year’s Australian tour where he won eight of nine races.
After five nights of competition this year, Schatz is dominating the field. He
took on Steve Kinser, Joey Saldana and NASCAR Nextel Cup star Kasey Kahne and
won all five nights.

His latest victory was Saturday night where he continued his dominance of
the Bevelite Glass $50,000 to win Sprintcar International. Schatz picked up his
fourth consecutive win in the race and sixth victory in the race’s seven year
history.
“It was a good night that obviously ended the way we wanted it too,” said
Schatz. “I’ve been saying these $50,000 races keep getting harder and harder to
win. That was the case tonight as we faced another battle.”
2006 WoO Champion Schatz dominates Australian Tour
chatz used Friday night’s victory in the opening night program to
continue his winning streak and prepare for Saturday’s 40-lap feature event. He
led all 30 laps aboard the No.15 Pick ‘N Payless J&J of Rush Racing and won the
first qualifying heat on Saturday night. Schatz battled Joey Saldana in the Dash
event and started the feature event third behind Saldana and Steve Kinser.
Kinser had the jump at the start and Schatz worked his way into second but took
the lead on lap seven. Saldana took the lead on lap 14, but Schatz returned to
the post on lap 17 and worked lapped traffic to open up a comfortable margin. He
maintained the lead to the
checkered flag ahead of Saldana, Peter Murphy, Jason Meyers and Kinser.
“We won opening night on Friday and felt like we had a pretty good handle on
things, but the track was different than we thought it would be on Saturday,”
said Schatz. “It ended up taking rubber so it came down to being smart. We had a
softer tire on than Joey did and I pushed the envelope a little bit there during
the middle stages of the race. I knew saving my tires and being steady would win
the race.”
Schatz and the ParkerStore Team use K&N Engineering products. “The K&N Airbox
works flawlessly,” he said. “K&N builds a superior product and we are able to
attain maximum horsepower.”
Schatz will be in Australia for another two weeks to compete in five more nights
of action. He is hoping to continue his winning streak before returning home to
begin defending his World of Outlaws championship at Volusia Speedway Park on
February 9 in his No. 15 Parkerstore sponsored J&J.

with the K&N Filter.
E-9281
has an outside length of 7.441 inches (189 mm) with an outside width of 5.512
inches (140mm).
The high-flow K&N tapered conical air filter is washable and reusable. K&N invented
this concept more than 35 years ago. Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters
use a unique pleated design of oiled cotton fabric that is sandwiched between
two layers of epoxy-coated aluminum screen.
K&N's stock replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered by our
famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
A spare K&N Engineering Replacement Air Filter (E-3017)

"Some customers like to have two K&N Filters," said K&N Application Coordinator
Lisa Watson. "This way there is no reason to ever have your motorcycle out of
commission. When you are cleaning one K&N Filter, just rotate in the other
filter."
The K&N Replacement Filter,
E-3017 is
made to be cleaned at approximately 25,000 miles. K&N Air Filters are washable and
reusable.
"E-3016DK
is also available to protect and extend the life of your K&N Filter," said
Watson. "K&N Drycharger wraps are made to cover your K&N Filter. The Drychargers
allow for optimum air flow and at the same time limit the amount of water that
can reach the K&N Filter."
It is a league of awe inspiring behemoth full sized diesel trucks, ominous smoke
belching 10 thousand pound stock tractors and various classes that compete for
valuable points. The 2006 Lucas Oil Professional Pulling League has wrapped up
and is preparing for a spring 2007 launch.
One of the goals of the Pro Pulling League (PPL) is to elevate the sport of
professional and sportsman truck and tractor pulling to a new level to
accommodate the pulling faithful. The League is a concerted effort by Lucas Oil
Products, K&N Engineering and other business partners.
All
Pro Pulling League Tractor Classes use K&N Filters
Competitors in the PPL must have a functional K&N Air Filter or a K&N
Performance Gold Oil Filter on their vehicle of choice. “K&N makes good high
quality filters,” said Pro Pulling League Director John Lucas. “The way K&N
performs is second to none.”
2006 “Pro Puller of the Year” Jared Nelson drives a 2004 Chevy with a 572 cubic-
inch engine. It is a two-wheel-drive funny truck that weighs 6200 pounds. “I
compete against the toughest guys in the Super Modified Two-Wheel Drive Truck
Class,” said Nelson. “It’s all about balance, and about knowing your dirt and
your track.”

The supercharged truck set prepare for months. Competitors are hooked up
to a weight transfer also known as a sled. The box and the pan are the two major
components of the sled. The box is chain driven using the wheels. Inside the
box are multiple lead blocks weighing a ton. “It starts out easy but as we reach
the end of the 300 foot track more weight transfers to the front of the sled,”
said Nelson. “Your tires really dig into the track.”
Nelson uses K&N Performance
Gold Oil Filters. “I don’t have to worry about damage to my engine,” he
said. “The K&N Filters hold up under the harshest conditions, I never have to
worry about metal shavings. K&N Filters deliver all the time. I’ve been using
K&N for almost five years and racing for 10. I wouldn’t use anything else.”
Jared Nelson’s younger brother, Jordan Nelson earned the Lucas Oil/MAPA Dixie
Chopper Division Championship in 2006. Machines in his division use blown
(supercharged) and injected engines with methanol for fuel. The engine power is
transmitted to the ground in a style that leads to towering wheel stands.
Pro Stock Tractors are for the die-hard pulling enthusiast. Engines can be built
to a maximum of 680 cubic inches in displacement and are fed by a combination of
diesel fuel and water injection. Bill Leischner and Joe Eder had the most points
in Super Modified Tractor in 2006.
In tractor pulling the concept is based on who can pull the sled the farthest on
a 300 foot long dirt track. The boundaries consist of two white lines on each
side. If a competitor touches the line, they are disqualified. There is only one
chance to make a pull and that distance is measured. If more than one person
passes 300 feet there is a “Pull Off.”
The Lucas Oil Pro Pulling League sanctioned organization ended the 2006 season
with record points payouts. Selected events from the Champions Tour can be seen
on ESPN2, The Outdoor Channel and the Speed Channel.

Consumers are interested in going green and automakers are in the process of
shifting gears to accommodate the public. Nearly every major car maker at the
2006 Los Angeles Auto Show showed off new models that will reportedly mark the
beginning of the end of the era for gas guzzling vehicles. A lot of attention is
also being paid to environmental and landfill issues.
The LA Auto Show showcased concept cars which were eco-friendly. Many focused on
recyclable materials and entered the “environmental sustainability” design
challenge.

display. At the K&N

find K&N products.
