If the tube gets dusty, just use a slightly damp micro fiber cloth to remove the dust. Since the tube is powder coated, cleaning chemicals are not needed or recommended when cleaning the tube.

In addition to the great looking intake tube, the 69-5308TS air intake system also includes a black powder-coated heat shield, which is designed to feed cooler outside air into the air filter. The heat shield also has an attachment spot for the included fresh air inlet scoop. The fresh air scoop attaches to the heat shield and offers a way for the cooler outside air to reach the air filter without having to pass through the under-hood hot air.
To help improve air flow even more, the 69-5308TS air intake comes with a velocity stack style air filter adapter and an oversized RU-4600 high performance air filter. The velocity stack style adapter is designed to smoothly transition the air flow coming through the air filter and into the intake tube. The air filter fits onto the velocity stack style adapter and is secured with the provided hose clamp. Since the RU-4600 is an oversized air filter, not only will it do an excellent filtration job and protect your engine from dust, but you can go longer than the stock replacement air filter before cleaning is needed. Most drivers can go up to 100,000 miles before cleaning, depending on driving conditions. However, if you drive is dustier than normal conditions, K&N also offers the 22-8036PK PreCharger air filter wrap to help extend the service interval of the air filter.

K&N Air Intake under the hood of Jeep Patriot, Compass and Dodge Caliber
The 2011 to 2013 Jeep Patriot, Compass and the 2011 to 2016 Dodge Caliber come with two 4-cyliner engine choices, a 2.0 liter or a 2.4 liter. Even though all three vehicles may look different on the outside, when it comes to the power plant under the hood, they all have the same setup. K&N offers the 63-1567 air intake system for all three vehicles and this air intake fits both 4-cyliner engine options. The 63-1567 comes with all the necessary components needed to make this an easy to install air intake system. This air intake can be installed in less than 90 minutes using the tools that are listed on the installation instructions. Bolting on this intake is an easy way to add an estimated 6.3 horsepower at 4397 rpm and 5.2 feet pounds of torque at 3463 rpm.
The 63-1567 air intake system includes a high density polyethylene air intake tube that is designed specific to the Patriot, Compass and Caliber's engine bay setup. The molded air intake tube was designed with a threaded NPT fitting to reattach the crank case vent hose and a spot for the air intake temperature sensor. Also included is a heat shield and heat shield lid. The heat shield is designed to help keep the cool outside air blocked from the engine compartment's hot air. In addition, the heat shield has an air inlet area for the stock air inlet tube. The heat shield lid acts as a dual purpose component, first by acting as the elctronic control unit (ECU) mount and second by blocking more of that hot under hood air.
