Sprint Car Driver Tiffany Wyzard Anticipates Success Throughout the 2013 Racing Season
- Sep 11, 2013
Months earlier, Flores reached out to fellow racer in need, 17-year-old Women's Ski Limited class competitor Anna Glennon who risked losing her shot at the National title if she didn't participate in the mid-season Sparks, Nevada, US Open of Watercross. Flores, who along with the rest of the K&N Filters-supported Optima Racing team, was already scheduled to be present, offered Glennon the use of his Raceskis.com-built Stock class Kawasaki SX-R.
Coached by Flores and team manager Mike Bartolomeo, Glennon rode Flores' 800cc-powered ski to a third place podium finish, and eventually came home with the National title in her class for the year as well. At the event, Glennon said, "Thank you Rob, for being generous enough to let me take your ski out for the most exciting three motos of my career. This weekend was a weekend I won't forget, that's for sure." This is not the first time for the veteran racer to extend a helping hand to a young racer, and certainly won't be the last. Glennon's younger sister, Jessie, is already taken up the sport competing in the Junior 12-13 Ski class. Flores, whose unmistakable laugh and laser-like focus on the closed course has earned him an equal portion of respect and friends on and off the water; and his willingness to give to the new generation ensures many more friends in the future. |

For four years, Russ continued racing go-karts until graduating college and building his first Street Stock racecar in 2006. "It was a lot of fun," Russ recounted. "I enjoyed building it as my dad helped me all the way."
Choosing to go pro proved difficult. In his first two seasons, Russ was plagued with engine troubles, blowing four engines in five weeks. Doubling his efforts on his engine program, Russ won eight heats that following year, finishing 5th in points. Undaunted, Russ reached out to K&N Filters in 2007, earning a sponsorship and went on to win five features and five heats, collecting the track championship. The next year, Russ continued his momentum, winning 14 heats and four features as well as the track championship. By 2011, Russ stepped up to a Northeast Dirt Modified car and switched tracks, running at the Blackrock Speedway his rookie year. It was there, behind the wheel of his new Modified that Russ earned Rookie of The Year and won his first feature in only his second race out in it. Picking up two feature wins that year and ending up 7th in points, Russ went back to Woodhull Raceway (where he had won the Street Stock championship at Woodhull Raceway in 2009 and 2010) and fetched another Rookie of The Year honor in 2012. Currently, Russ is running a Bicknell chassis and has dominated 14 heat races to date, and is currently 4th in points. When asked why he ran K&N Filters, Russ explained, "In addition to filters, I also run K&N's valve cover breathers, crankcase breathers, pre-chargers, foam pre-filters, oil filters, fuel filters, flow control assemblies, cleaners and there grease. K&N Filters are hands down the best filter on the market. It is very reassuring to know when you put one on you're putting on the best available filter. I have never had a part failure due to one of their filters and have never had any issues with any of their products. I will never run another brand of filter or air filter, and I have K&N filters and intakes on all the cars I own." |

K&N's 69-8620TTK performance air intake system comes with all of the necessary components needed for an easy installation. Included is an air intake tube, black powder coated heat shield, oversized K&N performance air filter, air filter adapter, hose clamps and hardware. On average, installation should take less than 90 minutes to complete. The 69-8620TTK performance air intake system's metal intake tube has a durable black powder coated finish, making it easy to clean and look great under the hood. In addition, the air intake tube was engineered to work with your Camry's stock mass air sensor and computer by using a mass air sensor adapter that is specific to your 2012 to 2016 Toyota Camry. The intake tube also has a spot for the crank case vent attachment, a threaded fitting for the EVAP vent, as well as a location and bracket to secure the stock EVAP solenoid. The included K&N RF-1048 high flow air filter was chosen for its fit, performance and filtration properties. This K&N washable and reusable air filter has a large surface area allowing it to be used up to 100,000 miles before cleaning is needed, depending on driving conditions. When the time comes to clean the K&N air filter, simply follow four easy steps using a K&N air filter recharger cleaning kit.
K&N also offers air filter wraps in four different colors. These wraps can give you a more custom look with the different colors, as well as, help increase service intervals even further by stopping larger dirt particles from reaching the air filter in the first place. These K&N DryCharger filter wraps come in black (RF-1048DK), blue (RF-1048DL), yellow (RF-1048DY) or red (RF-1048DR). Between the quality components, high-tech engineering of the intake and K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty, the 69-8620TTK air intake system is the perfect performance add-on for your Toyota Camry. The K&N 69-8620TTK air intake system fits:

Currently, the nine-race schedule is six races deep with the Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, California, the Havasu 95 Speedway in Lake Havasu City, Arizona, and The Bullring at Las Vegas Motor Speedway remaining. K&N's series sponsorship is now over what most believe to be the most competitive season to date.
Right now, Chris Gerchman is gunning towards the championship, but Jim Mardis is close on Gerchman's heels and will try to close the gap during these final three races. The task at hand isn't an easy one for Mardis as Gerchman recently added 10 points to his lead at the Irwindale Events Center this past August 17th. Mardis, the series' only two-time champion, drives an STR Chevrolet with engines built by Dave Arce and sponsored by Bluewater Technologies, JAM Sportswear, K&N Filters and Premier Wraps.
Greg Scheidecker, the series co-founder and promoter, stated, "[K&N] chose two-time champion, Jimmy Mardis, to carry the K&N colors this season, and we know Jimmy will do everything possible to make K&N's return a success." The current points leader and looking to win his first championship, Gerchman drives an STR Chevrolet with engines built by his father, Larry Gerchman, and sponsored by Peggy's Sunrise Café, G-n-G Automotive and Sign Source. Peggy is Chris's mother and G-n-G is a family business. "We've had opportunities to win a championship in the series, but we came up short," Gerchman told Mike Adaskaveg of Speedway Illustrated magazine. "We're running smart this year. We've stepped up the maintenance. It is absolutely a goal to win the championship." |
