A few years back Pontiac decided to restore its reputation as GM's High-Performance brand. Pontiac has seen much success with their line of G8 models. A mechanical twin of the highly successful Holden Commodore sedan, the G8 brings back the power and rear wheel drive once missing from Pontiac's new car offerings. Entry-level G8 V6 models are capable of producing over 250 hp, which means the G8 rivals full size competitors from Chrysler as well as
those in Germany. Also helping to restore Pontiac's performance heritage is K&N Air Intake System
part 63-3072 for the 2008-09 G8 with a 3.6 liter V6 engine.

K&N's Performance Air Intake System 63-3072 helps fire up an already impressive sport sedan with a nearly 11 horsepower increase at the rear wheels. K&N's Research and Development Department tested a 2008 Pontiac G8 3.6L V6 on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed an increase across the RPM range with a dramatic peak horsepower gain of 10.68 horsepower @ 6,200 RPM!.

K&N's 63-3072 provides increased performance while maintaining that "O/E" look with a rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube.
K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow.
This results in more power when you need it. With a K&N Performance Air Intake System, consumers can count on extra horsepower whether picking up the kids from school
or winding along a mountain road.
This cold air intake system uses a conical shaped high-flow chrome-top air filter (RC-5138)
and powder coated aluminum heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock air box.
The result is an air filter that captures harmful particles, flows air freely, and
has a long service life.
This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the engine is the rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube. It offers the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers.
The 63-3072 takes about 90 minutes or less to install, using simple hand tools, requires no cutting or drilling, and is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty®.
Anthony Leonards 1929 Ford Tudor is equipped with a K&N air filter, fully chromed 347 Ford Roller Motor with Roush Heads, C-4 transmission and a chrome Ford 9' rear end
Anthony Leonard's fascination with cars started as a child in 1950's Los Angeles. "The guys in my neighborhood drove 32's with flatheads, James Dean style Mercurys, Tri-fives and custom Chevy Fleetlines. Caroll Shelby's Factory on La Brea and Highland was around the corner from my house," says Leonard. Following college and a stint in the Army, Leonard became a real estate broker and practiced as a mortgage banker for 34 years. "Through those years I continued to buy and read car magazines, but time constraints always prevented me from building a car."
The underside of Anthony Leonards 1929 Ford Tudor was fitted with a custom belly pan, painted the same color as the car.
Then, in 2003 Leonard purchased a 1929 Ford Tudor Sedan, dubbed "The Cat's Meow" and drove it until the original frame cracked. To repair the frame required the removal of the body. With the help of his talented friend Chuck Williams, Leonard installed a TCI Chassis. The underside of the car was fitted with a custom belly pan, painted the same color as the car. Dr. Brush, a well known east coast artist, painted and pinstriped the body, engine compartment and undercarriage with PPG Fireball Red. "When you walk around the car and look at the paint, the color changes from a Fireball Red to a glowing orange," says Leonard.
"We installed a fully chromed 347 Ford Roller Motor with Roush Heads, C-4 transmission and a chrome Ford 9' rear end," says Leonard. To accommodate a high performance Ford engine, a custom firewall was designed and installed. The design of the new firewall included the use of the original firewall-upper section, which is where the original completion date of 9-18-29 was stamped by the Ford Motor Company.
The interior of the Cat's Meow is completely insulated and includes vintage air conditioning, reclining seats, vintage white faced VDO Gages, Genie shifter, power windows, power brakes and a chrome tilt steering column with a mahogany Ford steering wheel.
Anthony Leonard is a loyal K&N customer. "I use K&N filters on all of my vehicles including my 2002 Jeep Wrangler that I take off road," says Leonard. "K&N Filters are economical and help my high performance engines breathe better. My personal car is an un-molested, black lacquer 1965 Mustang "K" code with 89,000 miles, equipped with K&N, of course."

Former Factory Aprilia rider Darryl Atkins has come out of AMA Supermoto retirement to participate in the invitation only X Games 15 in Los Angeles, California. Atkins will race for Supermoto Gold with some of the world’s top motorcycle riders including Mark Burkhart, Brandon Currie, and Carey Hart
AMA Supermoto National Champion Darryl Atkins will ride in X-Games 15
Atkins retired last year from AMA Supermoto to participate in various business ventures. Supermoto was part of his life over the past five years. Atkins was a racer and team owner who amassed four AMA National Championship wins and was the 2007 Team Champion.
Darryl Atkins will compete against riders like Carey Hart, Mark Burkhart and Brandon Currie in the quest for Supermoto Gold
Testing 2008 Honda CRF 450 for the X Games at Adams Kart Track in Riverside, California
“The exposure we get from being in the X Games is better than we could get winning every AMA national event for the next ten years,” said Atkins. “The X Games is in a class by itself.”
Atkins prepared for the X games in his 2008 CRF Honda with K&N products at Adams Kart Track in Riverside, California. “I use K&N air and oil filters (KN-116), and as far as I’m concerned there is no other choice out there,” said Atkins. “We could choose any product we want but we choose K&N because it works.”
Atkins competed in the Premier Class during AMA competition, and he will be in the Supermoto Class at the X Games. The Supermoto final will air Saturday at 4:00 pm PST on ESPN.
Atkins also plans to ride next in Europe and New Zealand.
Jason Meyers picked up the win in the opener of the Six Nations Showdown at Ohsweken in Canada. It was a long sought out victory for the Clovis, California native. The last time he raced at Ohsweken Speedway in 2007, his night came to an end after a wreck destroyed his car. In 2008, Meyers sought redemption, but mother-nature cancelled the race.
Six Nations Showdown Win at Ohsweken Speedway in Canada for Jason Meyers
In 2009, he took the lead on a restart from Jason Sides on lap ten and paced the field for most of the 30-lap contest. Donny Schatz chased Meyers but Meyers began to extend his lead near the halfway point of the race. With only three laps remaining, Schatz began to close in. Meyers was held up a little bit and Schatz really closed the gap. The pair had a drag race off
of turn four, but Meyers won by less than three-tenths of a second to score his fifth A-Feature win of the season and the 31st of his career with the World of Outlaws series.
“To come back this way and be able to win is great,” said Meyers. “It’s tough to win any World of Outlaws race, but to come to Canada and get this win is a great building block for the big races that are coming up.”
Meyers uses K&N products. “K&N filters are absolutely the best and that is why you will find them in every application within our team,” he said. “We work hard to make horsepower and our K&N air filters give us excellent filtration and protect our motors from track debris under the worst conditions.”
Currently Meyers is second in points in the World of Outlaws series. His next race will be at Ohsweken Speedway for the finale of the Six Nations Showdown.
