The 2012 and 2013 Toyota Tacoma has a reputation for having a strong build quality, possessing amazing reliability and because of its smaller size making it easy to get around, the Toyota Tacoma can be placed on par with many of its full-size competitors. Then when you add in the optional 236 horsepower 4.0L V6 engine, this truck really stands out. With everything that makes this truck amazing wrapped into one package, K&N has produced a way for owners to make this truck just a little bit more awesome with the 63-9037 air intake system.

K&N's 63-9037 air intake system is designed to be easily installed with a few simple tools and a little time. The 63-9037 air intake system comes with all of the required components needed to bolt on an additional estimated 8.6 horsepower at 5100 RPM and 8.5 ft-lb or torque at 3700 RPM to this bad boy without modification to the body or engine bay.

The 63-9037 comes with an aerodynamic air intake tube that is engineered specifically for the Toyota Tacoma V6's computer and mass air sensor setup so the stock mass air sensor can be transferred without hassle or the need to reprogram the computer. The other main components include the K&N RF-1042XD high flow air filter and a powder coated heat shield. The heat shield is designed to help keep the nice outside cold air that helps the engine perform from being heat soaked by the hot under hood temperatures. In addition, the air intake system also comes with application specific brackets, crank case vent hose and fitting, as well as all of the hoses, hose clamps and hardware needed to install.

The major benefit of the K&N reusable air filter is that it's designed with K&N's highly efficient oiled cotton media, meaning that this air filter will do the job that is needed to protect your engine from harmful dust in the air. Due to the design of the RF-1042XD air filter, drivers can go up to 100,000 miles between cleaning, depending on driving conditions. To clean the RF-1042XD air filter just follow the 4 easy cleaning steps or watch the cleaning video. If you dive in dustier than normal conditions and find that you need to clean the air filter more often, then K&N also offers the RF-1042DK (black), the RF-1042DL (blue), the RF-1042DY (yellow) and the RF-1042DR (red) air filter wraps. These wraps will extend the filter's service life while adding little additional restriction.

The K&N 63-9037 air intake system fits the following Tacoma:
2015 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6
2014 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6
2013 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6
2012 Toyota Tacoma 4.0L V6

In addition to the high quality and long lasting components, the K&N 63-9037 air intake system is backed by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty, meaning that your intake should last for the life of your vehicle.

Jim Mardis and the Mardis Racing Team Battle for Modified Racing Series Championship

Lucas Oil Modified racer Jim Mardis stays in the battle for championship after LoanMart Arizona 100
Speed and youth make a heart racing combination. Add business sense, and you’ve got a racing team leader like Jim Mardis. Introduced to racing at a young age, Jim didn’t sit around and wait until his16th birthday to be a part of racing action. He purchased a go kart at age 12, then his first car - a Ford Pinto - at age 15. Not old enough to race at the time, Jim spent the next year learning how to adjust and improve a race car’s performance.

In 2002, Jim, age 16, started off strong behind the wheel in the Orange Show Speedway’s Pony Stock Division in San Bernardino, CA. For the next 5 years, Jim balanced the demands of school, work, and racing; finding time when he could to prep his car for the races. In 2006, Jim and the Mardis racing team finished the season as the track champion and won 10 of 13 races. “That was a great accomplishment,” Jim commented, reflecting on his career highlights.

In 2007, 16 year old Jim Mardis entered the Lucas Oil Modified Racing Series. Between 2007-2008, as he built his skills (and rebuilt his car) in the Modified Series, Jim continued racing and winning in the Orange Show Speedway. In 2009, Mardis Racing launched a full attack in open wheel modified racing by entering all events in the Superclean Modified Racing Series. Between the three, Mardis Racing racked up multiple wins, awards and a track record. In 2010, Jim won his first Lucas Oil Rockstar Modified Championship.

Then Jim Mardis truly made history -- twice. In 2011, he won his second Lucas Oil Rockstar Modified Championship, becoming the only driver to ever do so. In 2012 he was recognized as the only driver to capture at least one win each season for the last 4 years. He also won the I-10 Speedway Championship in both 2011 and 2012.

Launch forward to March 2013, and we find Jim and the Mardis Racing Team tackling the LoanMart Arizona 100 in Lake Havasu, Arizona. They experimented with a different shock absorber set-up, and ended up qualifying in a less than favorable 19th/33 position. However, as Jim had done through his career, he stepped back to what he knew best, and decided to pick the drivers off one-by-one. By the end of the race he improved to 6th place; enough to keep him in the championship battle. This race was recorded for future broadcast, you can look for Jim as the featured driver to watch in the #51 Bluewater Technologies / JAM Sportswear / K&N Filters / Premier Wraps Modified car.

Jim’s strength in car building has helped boost him throughout his career. He has used K&N products on his race car for years. When the opportunity came about with Team Lucas to partner with K&N, Jim said “it was a good fit for both of us. K&N products provide great quality and longer life. They are re-useable so they help economically. The air filters flow more air which provides a benefit to help produce more horsepower.” And Jim certainly knows about producing horsepower. Following the March 2nd race, Jim entered the April 6th event at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway and won. Congratulations Jim, and the Mardis Racing team on an impressive racing career, we look forward to an exciting 2013!

Joe Sylvester Wins the Young Guns Shootout and a Spot in Monster Jam World Finals

Sometimes childhood dreams do come true. For Joe Sylvester, they came true at the Monster Jam World Finals℠ in Las Vegas in March.
Joe Sylvester and the Bad Habit Monster Truck
Joe Sylvester and the Bad Habit Monster Truck

Sylvester and his Bad Habit monster truck shocked the racing community on his way to a win in the Young Guns Shootout, garnering his small-town Ohio team a spot in the World Finals main event and a showdown with the most harrowing monster truck of them all, Grave Digger.

“Winning the Young Guns Shootout was definitely the highlight of my career,” said Sylvester, a former dirt bike racer. “It ranks right up there with my world record jump back in 2010. My team prepared tremendous amount with our sights set on winning in Vegas and it was very gratifying to take home the trophy.”

Sylvester and his team couldn’t celebrate too much in Sin City, as they had to turn around and be prepared for a full day of racing and freestyle on Saturday night. While the truck and driver were both up to the task, Grave Digger driver Dennis Anderson did what he has done to so many others in his illustrious career: claim another victim.

“This was my first time against Dennis in seven years of monster truck racing,” Sylvester said. “I’ve raced against all of the other Digger drivers, but never Dennis. It was a close race for sure.”

While Sylvester put in a solid performance in freestyle, the team came up just short there as well. Still, for a team working on such a tight budget, Sylvester was all smiles.

“We have a very limited budget and a part-time crew,” Sylvester said. “It takes my focus in more directions than just driving because I also drive the transporter, wrench on the truck, run the business and pay the bills. It is definitely challenging to compete against trucks with an unlimited budget and a dedicated driver, but hey, we did it.

“The notoriety has been great for my sponsors.”

Sylvester was already working on a busy summer schedule working the independent tour and local shows, one of which he is promoting. But those aren’t the only goals Sylvester has this year.

“The show I am promoting at the Canfield Fairgrounds on June 29th is taking a lot of my time right now, but I’m also planning another world record jump. I also want to break in to the scene of short course off road racing in the Pro Light class. We are currently seeking partnerships to support us in entering the rapidly growing sport.”

Sylvester is thankful to have some time back for himself after ending the busy Monster Jam® schedule.

“I get back on my normal training routine and just keep moving forward with my latest projects. 2013 has been a great year so far and it has only really just begun.”

K&N Produces 57S Performance Airbox System for Volvo V70, V40, C30, Ford Kuga, Grand C-Max and More

K&N E-9289 High Flow Performance Air Filter

K&N 57S-4000 Performance System for Multiple Ford, Volvo and Mazda Models

K&N has developed the 57S-4000 performance airbox system for multiple year Ford C-Max, Ford C-Max II, Ford Focus, Ford Focus II, Ford Focus III, Ford Grand C-Max, Ford Kuga, Mazda 3, Mazda 5, Volvo C30, Volvo C70 II, Volvo S40 II, Volvo V40, Volvo V40 II, Volvo V50, Volvo V70, Volvo V70 III models found in Europe and around the globe, the complete list of vehicles can be found below. This air intake setup is fully compliant with the latest TUV emissions and sound regulations.

The 57S-4000 increases horsepower and acceleration by reducing air flow restriction caused by the original factory design. Typical gains on a 4 cylinder vehicle range between 4 and 7 horsepower. This very simple installation replaces the factory air filter and lid with K&N's high-flow, washable and reusable performance air filter and lid. The K&N performance lid is injection molded for extra strength, consistency and durability. It is designed to be easily removed for access to the round tapered washable and reusable K&N performance air filter. The air filter can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions.

This installation can be performed very quickly with only a screwdriver. This 57S performance airbox uses factory holes and the OE air box base, making this a quick and easy bolt-on upgrade. In addition, the 57S-4000 system comes with the air filter end cap. The end cap can cover the top opening. This opening contains an inverted air filter for more surface area and more air flow. For countries which have TUV regulations the end cap must be used. Combine the high flow performance air filter, performance lid and easy installation together and you will have a power adding, TUV compliant, high-flow intake system that will last for the life of your vehicle.

Multiple language instructions are included with each kit. The easy to assemble 57S-4000 kit can be installed very quickly and it comes with the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty. 2011 and 2012 GMC Sierra 2500HD and 3500HD and 2011 and 2012 Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD 6.0 liter gas engines are some of the more powerful available on the market today. Adequate airflow is the key to the performance of these large engines. On the flip side of the coin, every driver knows how important filtration is to a vehicle's operation and engine longevity. To balance high airflow and high filtration efficiency, K&N has developed the 77-3076KTK performance air intake system for 2011 and 2012 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado 2500HD and 3500HD trucks with 6.0 liter engines.

Built for performance and show, the K&N 77-3076KTK High-Flow Performance Air Intake is a free-flowing mandrel-bent aluminum tube induction system designed to fit easily into 2011, 2012 and 2013 GMC Sierra and Chevy Silverado 2500 and 3500 6.0 liter models. This air intake system comes with a K&N high flow air filter, a custom designed heat shield and lid to help keep engine heat away and all the necessary components needed for installation. The system has fittings for the crankcase breather hose and a mass air sensor adapter custom designed to perform with the factory's electronics. On top of utilizing the highest quality, vehicle-specific components, the 77-3076KTK is also backed by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty, giving owners the peace of mind to know that their investment is safe.

K&N air intake systems are a simple bolt-on installation that replaces the vehicle's stock restrictive factory air filter and air intake setup. The 77-3076KTK is also designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction while it straightens air flow. This allows your vehicle's engine to inhale a larger amount of air than the OEM air filter assembly. Less restriction means more usable horsepower, torque and acceleration throughout the engine's RPM range. When dyno tested, the air intake system showed an estimated performance increase of 10 horsepower at 5033rpm and 10 lb-ft of torque at 4736rpm on a 2012 Chevrolet 2500HD pickup with a 6.0 liter V8 engine. The air intake system also allows for an increase in engine sound offering a deeper throatier roar when you step on the gas.

The performance air filter, part RF-1042XD, used on the 77-3076KTK intake is also washable and reusable. Being washable and reusable, the RF-1042XD air filter can go up to100,000 miles depending on driving conditions and it is easily cleaned using the K&N recharger kit meaning you can have more time on the road and less time changing expensive disposable air filters in your garage. The filter is designed with a woven oiled cotton media to ensure excellent filtration efficiency for engine protection.

The 77-3076KTK comes with step-by-step install instructions for easy installation. Including pictures of each component and area of the engine bay as parts get removed and installed. Average installation time runs less than 90 minutes depending on the installer's skill level.
