K&N Drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr Changed a 2015 Ford F150 Into the Ultimate Funhaver

K&N drifter Vaughn Gittin Jr was inspired to build his interpretation of an ultimate fun haver capable of drifting or off-roading out of a 2015 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost pickup truck

K&N air filters sponsored Vaughn Gittin Jr. began his professional drifting career over ten years ago. The self-taught American drifter came from humble beginnings driving his personal Nissan S13 in Formula Drift. The switch to a Ford Mustang in 2005 brought the Maryland native much notoriety and sponsors such as Ford Racing, Monster Energy drinks, Nitto Tires and K&N air filters. Having tried his hand at NASCAR, and recently at Trans Am racing, Vaughn Gittin Jr. considers himself more than just a professional drifter. When his hoonigan antics are factored into the equation, Vaughn Gittin Jr. could more appropriately be called a “professional funhaver.”

With the introduction of the lighter, more efficient, and better accelerating 2015 Ford F150 what better way for Gittin to show off his skills as a professional funhaver than by transforming a 2015 Ford F150 EcoBoost into the ultimate funhaver? What is an ultimate funhaver? Picture a vehicle that is highly capable of drifting on the pavement and with the flick of a switch equally adept at tackling a short course off-road race track. This kind of thinking is exactly what inspired Vaughn Gittin Jr to build his interpretation of an ultimate funhaver.

Recently K&N sponsored professional funhaver Vaughn Gittin Jr. took the 2015 Ford F150 3.5L EcoBoost out to Hoontown, USA to demonstrate just what this truck was capable of for a new video. Hoontown, USA is a ranch in Southern California composed of a big dirt lot with a few jumps. With Vaughn Gittin Jr. behind the wheel of the F150 Ultimate Funhaver the truck easily transitioned between drifts, kicking up epic roosts, and getting the truck airborne. With all of the custom suspension work the 2015 F150’s high-strength, military-grade, aluminum-alloy body and high-strength steel frame landed flat each and every time.

The truck was built by Kibbetech Offroad, known for building race trucks for desert-running in the off-road world. The Ultimate Funhaver F150’s engine is a stock Ford 3.5-liter EcoBoost twin turbocharged and direct injected V6 with some basic bolt on power mods. These power adders include a custom Magnaflow exhaust that allows Vaughn to run an open exhaust at the push of a button and of course a K&N air intake system. Additionally, the Vaughn Gittin Jr. Ultimate Funhaver pickup uses a full-race intercooler and an ECU tune from Revolution Automotive. While the power is impressive for a near-stock truck, what really stands out is the suspension work which makes the truck at home in the dirt and on the road.

Airbags from Airlift Performance allow Vaughn Gittin Jr. to control the ride height based on the terrain. Kibbetech Offroad mated the airbags with King Shocks dual bypass shock absorbers in the front and triple bypass shock absorbers in the rear. The combined result is 12 inches of travel when fully lifted. Kibbetech also built a custom radius arm with panhard bar rear suspension. To handle all the power and abuse at the rear wheels, a Currie Enterprises full-floating F9 rear end was installed.

Vaughn made sure the exterior of the truck reflected the Ultimate Funhaver theme by commissioning Auto Explosion Custom Auto Body to create one-off fender flares. The truck was wrapped in XPEL Stealth protection film and Vaughn Gittin Jr. added custom RTR 18x10-inch wheels fitted with 35-inch Nitto Terra Grappler tires. Similarly, the interior has been tastefully modified for both form and function. Inside the Ultimate Funhaver are five Recaro Sportster seats flanked by Takata Racing harnesses. The only other interior modification is an Autosport Dynamics handbrake, which comes in handy for initiating drifts on or off-road.

2011 2012 2013 2014 Ford F-Series Super Duty 50 State Legal Diesel Intake From K&N

K&N Air Intake for 2011-2014 Ford Super Duty 6.7L

K&N 50-state street legal 2011-2014 Ford Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke air intake, number 57-2582, is able to provide a performance boost replacing restrictive components with new parts from K&N

The Ford Motor Company introduced the third generation Ford Super Duty in 2011. With the new truck came an all-new, all-Ford, 6.7L Power Stroke Turbo diesel V8. Codenamed the "Scorpion", Ford originally rated the 6.7-liter Power Stroke at 390 horsepower, and 735 lb-ft of torque. For 2015 Super Duty diesel models, Ford claims to have bumped up power output to an incredible 440 horsepower and 860 lb-ft of torque. Owners of 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014 Ford Super Duty trucks, including the F250, F350, F450, and F550 models looking for the extra power that Ford introduced for 2015 can equip their 6.7L Power Stroke powered truck with a K&N 50-state street legal diesel performance air intake system from a leading authority in air filter technology, K&N Filters.

2011-2014 Ford Super Duty 6.7L

Owners of 2011-2014 Ford F250, F350, F450, & F550 Super Duty trucks looking for the extra power of the 2015 truck can equip the 6.7L Power Stroke with a K&N 50-state legal diesel intake

K&N 50-state street legal Ford Super Duty 6.7L Power Stroke air intake system, number 57-2582, is able to provide a street legal performance boost for 2011-2014 F250, F350, F450, and F550 models by replacing restrictive factory components with new parts from K&N that are designed to make more power. The combination of a new roto-molded HDPE air intake tube, K&N high-flow oversized conical diesel air filter RC-5282, and an application specific heat shield resulted in bolt-on street legal diesel power gains for the 2011-2014 Ford Power Stroke turbo diesel. After establishing base line power numbers of a 2011 Ford F250 6.7L diesel Power Stroke in stock trim, this truck was then dyno tested with K&N street legal diesel air intake 57-2582 on K&N’s in-house dynamometer. Horsepower and torque gains were observed throughout the RPM range, with the max estimated gain of 11.92 horsepower occurring at 2,700 RPM and the estimated peak torque gain of 22.44 lb-ft taking place at 2,045 RPM.

2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee 6.4L SRT Gets More HEMI Power With K&N

K&N air intake 77-1567KS for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L

The K&N air intake for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L models includes an aluminum air intake tube, large K&N high-flow air filter, and an air filter heat shield

Beginning with the 2006 model year Chrysler's performance tuning division began to offer the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 powered by a 6.1-liter HEMI engine. The all-wheel drive HEMI-powered Jeep Grand Cherokee took a year off when Jeep first introduced the fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee WK2 in 2011. However, when the Grand Cherokee SRT returned in 2012 it came back with an even larger 6.4-liter Hemi V8 and an incredible 470 horsepower.

2012-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 6.4L models boast the most powerful engine ever stuffed into a Jeep making the WK2 SRT8 the fastest production Jeep to date. When the 470 HP Hemi is combined with the Grand Cherokee SRT model's Quadra-Trac Active On Demand 4WD, launch control, Selec-Track electronically adjustable suspension, and Brembo brakes, it amounts to a Jeep with a lot more than impressive straight-line performance.

2012-2016 6.4L HEMI powered Grand Cherokee

Even with as much power as the 2012-2016 6.4L HEMI powered Grand Cherokee packs from the showroom, it can be improved with the addition of a K&N performance air intake system

Even with as much power as the 6.4L HEMI powered Grand Cherokee packs from the showroom floor, it can still be improved with the addition of a K&N performance air intake system. A K&N air intake system is engineered to reduce air intake tract restriction and provide as much air as the engine can use. A K&N intake does this by replacing restrictive factory components, such as the flexible air induction hosing, closed air filter box, and sometimes an intake tract resonator, with new free flowing components from K&N air filters.

The K&N air intake for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L models includes an all-new mandrel-bent aluminum air intake tube, coupled to a large open-element K&N high-flow air filter, and an application specific air filter heat shield to divert hot air from entering the engine.

K&N air intake 77-1567KS installed in a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L

With a K&N air intake installed on a 2012-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 6.4L, the driver is going to be amazed at the guaranteed increase in horsepower waiting to be unleashed

K&N air intake 77-1567KS produced amazing results when it was installed and dyno tested on a stock 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 6.4L. In-house dynamometer testing showed an estimated increase of 27.86 more horsepower at 5,700 RPM. Even more impressive is the large estimated increase of 29.97 lb-ft of torque at a low 3,200 RPM. It is said that torque is what gets a vehicle moving, and horsepower is what keeps it moving. Either way, with a K&N air intake installed on a 2012-2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8 6.4L, the driver is going to be amazed at the guaranteed increase in horsepower waiting to be unleashed by pressing the accelerator. K&N filters is so confident in the performance of its air intake systems that K&N offers a K&N Air Intake Horsepower Guarantee.

K&N air intake 77-1567KS produced amazing gains in HP & torque when it was installed and dyno tested on a stock 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 6.4L

Like most every K&N air filter and air intake, the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2016 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT 6.4L intake system is backed by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty.

For those that don't know, K&N air filters are washable and reusable. A large K&N air filter like those used in a K&N air intake system can go up to 100,000 miles of driving, depending on driving conditions, before cleaning is necessary. When it does come time to clean a K&N air filter, the task can easily be accomplished with a readily available K&N Recharger air filter service kit. A Recharger air filter service kit contains K&N Power Kleen air filter degreaser, and K&N air filter oil designed to return performance of a K&N air filter to virtually like-new.
